My husband is a kitchen manager, so yesterday was the busiest day of his year. He worked pretty much 9am-11pm. I made him some bacon roses (https://imgur.com/gallery/fLjbU) and brought them to him for a snack. When he got home he gave me 6 roses, so I call that a win.

We're pretty low maintenance. Lol

I got absolutely nothing. I made a point to remove any and all expectations I had, and instead went out and got HIM chocolate, flowers, a movie, cards and some other junk he likes. I told him to play his xbox, made him a nice meal then he got a BJ and I put him to bed lol. He busts his ass to provide for us, I wanted to make sure he knew how I love and appreciate him. I put my hamster on lock-down and refused to allow myself to feel hurt, forgotton about etc and just focused on what I could do for him. I think he is still in shock that he didn't get "hell" for his lack of action and got spolied instead. He my v-day stud no matter what!

I have to brag a little. I've known my bf for about two years, but we officially started dating at the end of October.

My boyfriend had me convinced he was taking me to this local, fine steakhouse I've always wanted to go to in the 10.5 years I've lived here. He told me he'd pick me up at 8:10 for an 8:30 reservation. One important thing to note is he was recently diagnosed with ADD/ADHD in November and started taking meds, but planning and timing are still a bit of a struggle. He'd already requested I wear a specific dress and boots, and I was happy to oblige.

So I texted him at 8:10 inquiring whether he'd left yet. He had not as he was finishing "final touches." 8:30 rolls around and I'm trying not to fret. I look up the restaurant and see it's closing at 9pm. He finally gets me at 8:40, tells me not to fret because his parents know the owner, etc. I convey that I'm still not comfortable showing up at closing time when people want to go home, but he says to trust him. He gave me a little box of chocolate and a card which I didn't open right away.

We're driving a few miles and he realizes he didn't have his wallet and has to stop home. I'm getting REALLY antsy now and offer to call the restaurant. He says he'll do it from home, so now I'm really suspicious.

We get to his house and his roommate is in the kitchen cooking (not unusual). He brings me back to his bedroom and I'm totally surprised! He'd converted his bedroom into a little bistro with a cute table and two chairs, had the record player going, and had me sit down. He proceeded to bring me wine and homemade tomato bisque while he finished the entree of ribeye steak, green beans, garlic mashed potatoes, and special sauces. He also made an appetizer of gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches!!!

This is a guy who has cooked for me twice before, and struggles with planning! Yet he took off work early the day before to get the table, grocery shop, and adjust to me changing plans (I'd wanted to stay at my place that evening so as to not bother his roommate, but he didn't want to hint at a surprise), etc. It was WONDERFUL and so thoughtful! Apparently he has ingredients for a souffle, but the cooking took awhile and we were tired so he'll do that later.

After helping him clean up, we didn't get back to my place until nearly midnight, so I told him my "evening dessert plans" could also wait until the souffle night. We ended up just cuddling together while falling asleep. He kept berating himself for falling so behind schedule, but I keep reiterating that it was super sweet and made my evening. Plus, it was damn sexy watching him work in the kitchen! :)

My hubby and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day so we didn't do anything special. But, I recently broke my FitBit so he had ordered me a new one. I also recently ordered another ring since I only got the wedding band when we got married and have had people ask me if I'm engaged vs. married. So I wanted to get an engagement-type ring so everyone knows I'm married. I ordered one and it came around the same day. So my hubby actually wrapped them and gave them to me on Valentine's Day but they weren't really V-Day gifts per se.

At work we had an event and there were leftover flowers and one of my co-workers gave me some. So I had them on my desk all day and then took them home and gave them to him. I have also been working on the "Certificate of Leadership" from Secrets of Fascinating Womanhood. I was drawing him a unique photo and it was done a few days ago so I presented it to him on Valentine's Day. I also had some new red lingerie that I'd been waiting to wear and I wore that in the evening to bed. We also had people bring in tons of sweets throughout the day at work and I always bring my hubby food when we have work events, so I brought him home a bunch of different sweets.

All in all it was pretty low key and I would have been fine not to celebrate at all since I think V-Day is so overrated and has been monopolized by women getting greedy and selfish. All day at work I saw people asking the men what they were doing for the women in their life and the women acting entitled but never the other way around. So I don't believe in grading my husband on what he gets me or doesn't get me. Every day is an opportunity to show respect, love, and appreciation for your SO.

She got Lomo Saltado, a favorite of ours. I got wood. No, really! Had a quiet and lovely meal together by the fireplace. <3

My husband flew out quite early in the day for a job interview, but he did give me some fancy chocolates and a new magnet (I collect magnets) in the morning before he left. I ate them for breakfast!

We are celebrating tomorrow when he returns by getting our favorite dishes at a bunch of different restaurants around town - hand cut sesame noodles, rice ball salad, buche tacos, green pea potstickers, and lamb skewers. I'm so excited!

My husband bought us opera tickets and gave me the go ahead to purchase a new dress, shoes, and makeup ahead of time. He knows me so well! He also came home with a lovely bouquet of flowers.

We had a great night out, but I couldn't stop thinking about you RP ladies because the way the majority of people (men and women) were dressed at the opera was unbelievable. I live in a major city so it's not like it was some little local theatre, but women were there in jeans, frumpy shirts, etc. I was getting dagger eyes from almost all of the women and appreciative glances from the men. My husband noticed too and told me how proud I make him feel and how glad he is that I actually put effort into my appearance. The only ladies who smiled warmly at me were older ladies who were dressed to the 9s and the few young women who were also dressed up.

My husband is a big coffee guy so I bought him all these specialty coffee blends and arranged them to look like a bouquet in a basket. He loved it!

My husband took me shopping to pick out a new pair of earrings to wear out to dinner, but then we found out our reservations were tossed! The restaurant called him over the weekend, and because he was so busy, he missed the call and just noticed the voicemail that day. They tossed the reservation because he didn't call back. So we instead went to the grocery store and bought some great steaks and a bottle of wine. He cooked the steaks and I baked dessert (pink heart-shaped Russian tea cakes). It was absolutely delicious and a fantastic dinner. We had a great night, and I woke up early to take care of all the clean up before he got up. And he has even made dinner reservations for this weekend, so I'll still get to wear my new earrings out. I've got a winner. :)

Where we live, Valentine's day is commercially advertised for, but not yet part of the standard traditions, so it's up to every couple to decide if they participate or not. We briefly discussed it and agreed not to do anything, but I couldn't help myself and spread funny notes all over the house for him to wake up to in the morning and hid a card for him at his office to find.

However, he didn't get me anything, and I was a bit distraught by that, even though we agreed on not doing Valentine's day up front. I didn't let it show to him of course, but feelings can be hugely irrational and bothersome! Ugh.

We don't celebrate Valentine's Day, so instead I got up a little earlier than usual to do my makeup in a way he had recently mentioned he really likes. I ended up having to go to a last minute doctor's appointment in the afternoon so he drove me around in the rain for that and the pharmacy. Finished the evening with Chinese takeout and video games. It was low key, but it was still perfect because I got to spend it with him.

My bf got me nothing despite 4 yrs of expectations for this day. He knows I like to celebrate it but yet again he decided not to do anything because he was too busy with work. I've pleaded, cajoled, negotiated, did nothing, cried, etc all 4 yrs but still, nada.

So this yr I decided I'm not going to be upset anymore. I told him if he's so sure this holiday matters nil to him, then I'm positive he won't mind if I spent it hanging out with another guy friend. He flipped out, so I didn't go through with it. I told him to consider this yr my courtesy warning. Next yr if the same thing happens again, he will need to accept this as his fault. No more Ms. Nice Girl.
