If you haven't read this, please, do yourself a favor and give it a try. If the book is a bit much (it can be quite a slog if you're not already an Austen fan), the BBC adaptation is high quality and available on Netflix.

There are a wealth of examples of RP truths and role models (and cautionary tales) in Pride and Prejudice. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the following points:

  • Who are your favourite and least favourite characters?

  • Who are your favourite and least favourite couples?

  • What social conventions of the time do you think were beneficial to the happiness of the people?

  • Which social conventions are you most glad to not deal with in modern life?

  • What sort of alpha/beta traits do you see in the main male characters?

  • Which female characters do you find to be the best RPW role models?

Looking forward to hearing people's thoughts! I'll add my own at some time soon.
