Why do girls cockblock each other?

Reddit View

So little back story, I am at this party (This was a year ago just thought about it recently) and people are having fun, drinking, flirting. I'm chatting up this one chick, and as I ask for her Snapchat, her friend pulled her off to the side, I turned around and just decided to just keep watching the beer pong game but I can hear her friend, it was quiet but I heard it and she said "Be careful" then let her go. Obvious cockblock. This also happened with a 2nd girl. They always seem to cockblock at parties. I still ended up with the snapchat by the end of the party.

Why do girls try to cockblock each other? The girls I was talking too weren't even drunk so they could keep themselves in check.

its a simple case of "if i can't have fun, nobody will"

no joke. why do you think wingman is a concept

John Fowles in one of his novels (written in the 50s!) said that the most unattractive woman in a group of friends often ends up being the "mother" of the group, the one who watches out for them at parties, gets them home drunk, the one who hugs them all night when they're crying about being dumped, etc. Watch out for "group mom". I had this happen myself with a really beautiful women in a club ten years ago, the mom got all the other friends together to turn her off me.

Now what if you try picking up the mother hen?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child) | Copy

problem is she gets angry when you then leave her for one of the chicks

But they'll try to validate themselves by throwing themselves at you later...

They're either going to 1. Act super weird and standoffish because they assume theres some ulterior motive for you hitting on her (like fucking her friends), as if shes the ugliest in the group she 100% has super low self esteem

or 2. She's going to be super into it and flip her attitude 180, which is exactly what you want

This is absolutely 100% true

I dont party but in general the reasons i've seen are:

She got a bf.

Her friend doesnt want to get ditched/go home alone.

The friend likes you too - had a new chick chick at work with big tits asking about me on her first day and i heard from a friend that this other chick told her "yeah hes cute but soooo boring dont bother", coming from a chick who had a boring bf and liked me choking her and smacking her ass i found that rather funny.

Last reason which is probably the least likely is that you look creepy to the friend.

I had the first two happen to me a few nights ago. Just know, if the girl is really into you, her friends won’t be able to cockblock.

I brought a girl to a date party with me, but unfortunately a few of her friends were also invited so they came with her. My date was clearly into me and receptive to my escalating.

1st cockblock attempt: When two of her friends got bored because the didn’t have dates, they decided to leave. They grabbed my dates arm and said, “let’s go.” She looked at me and said, “I’m sorry but I have to be with my friends.” And went with them. I didn’t let it bother me too much and kept having fun. Not even five minutes later she comes back, saying she decided to let them go home.

2nd attempt: Unknown to me at the time, but my date had a boyfriend. Apparently she doesn’t give a shit, since I’d been feeling her up all night. Her friend notices how handsy I’m being and continuously tries to distract me or pull her away. Eventually, my date tells her to stop annoying us and leave.

You can assume where the night goes from there. Cock blocking can be really annoying when you haven’t built rapport with the girl or gained her interest yet. Don’t let it bother you, as your SMV and game improve this will be less and less of a problem.

That chick you were feeling up sounds like a bitch. Smash and dash would be your best case scenario there. But other than that, 100% agree.

Why don't you just let him make up his own mind?

I think it rustles your jimmies that he was fucking a taken woman. You're kinda being a little cock-blocky there, cousin.

[–]AshyBoneVR41 point2 points  (3 children) | Copy

Why? I didn't say he should smash. I was saying if he wanted to smash he should, but he should take things any farther then that. It's obvious the chick isn't faithful or girlfriend material. Some dudes will get with girls like this, catch onitis, then cry and wonder why oh girl cheated on them.

[–]Kenny_Twenty 1 points [recovered]  (2 children) | Copy

Ok, gotcha. What part of his story made you think she was a bitch, though? It's the fact that she's a cheater, isn't it? The only thing he quoted her as saying is:

“I’m sorry but I have to be with my friends.”

That's pretty polite.

Her behavior is described as:

Not even five minutes later she comes back, saying she decided to let them go home.

So she was into OP, let him feel her up all night, apologized when she decided to leave, then changed her mind and came back.

All I'm getting at with all this is that you should try to be a little more callous. Women cheat. Women cheat a lot. Hell, men do too. Plenty. I do, too. You gotta accept that fact and don't let it fluster you. Harden your heart. What you've learned about women growing up is horseshit. They're filthy animals just like we are. And that's fine. It doesn't make them bad. They are how they are.

[–]AshyBoneVR41 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

Dude, all I was doing was warning OP not to catch oneitis with this girl and then get hurt when she cheats on him. Plain and simple.

[–]helaughsinhidden0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy

She got a bf.

Not this, they love drama and unless she is dating her very own brother, this is not a factor.

Her friend doesnt want to get ditched/go home alone.

THIS plus jealousy. End of discussion.

[–]BurningOrangeHeaven0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

I meant her friend knows she has a bf and thats why shes being annoying, not that the girl herself cares.

I might be wrong though since you guys have more experience than me.

[–]helaughsinhidden2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

I know what you meant fam, but I've seen it happen more often that girls will turn a blind eye knowing her friend has a BF than policing her to be a faithful GF. Encouraging it even. This happens even more if said "friend" is herself single as she'd rather see her friend lose a BF rather than be single alone. Literally the opposite of a cockblock.

She wasn't cock blocking her friend. To her friend's eyes, she sees you as a threat, whether she thinks you're a creep or a player. An important part of making interactions smooth, is making sure that everyone involved is comfortable with you. The moment someone gets ticked, the whole interaction can go sideways.

For example, when approaching groups, whether it be just guys, girls, or a mixture, if someone doesn't like you for what ever reason, ESPECIALLY when that person is the self proclaimed "leader", the chances of that interaction ending positively dramatically drops. Why would that girl want to talk to you, a stranger, when she already has that core group of friends?

As you interact with new people/groups more and more, you'll start to see what works and what doesn't. When people are comfortable with you or enjoy your company, they want to spend more time with you. That in turn will lead to more success. That's not to say ass kiss and bend over backwards for people.

As important as it is to make others comfortable, you have to make sure you yourself are content first. Why spend time and energy on people or things that don't give you the time of day. There are always going to be people that just don't like you. It happens to everyone.

Just understand that there's about seven billion people in this world. A little more that half of those seven billion people are girls. Let's take it a bit further. Let's just day half of those are women of legal age for sex. That's a little less than two billion people.

That's more than the population of the entire United States.

TL;DR When you ever think that someone is shit testing you, just remember, there's always gonna be someone out there that would have wild sex with you without the drama or bullshit. You don't have the time to deal with petty things like "watch out for him”

One reason; jealousy.

[–]Houmann476 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy

One may have a bf and the other girl wants to remind her of that.

[–]Senior Endorseddr_warlock7 points8 points  (0 children) | Copy

When the other girls arent getting the attention they deserve, they try to drag down the other successful ones. "This place suuuuucks. Let's goooo". Jelly.

What class are you in?

Attractiveness (of a man) has a lot to do with basically being a higher class, such as having resources, dressing well, good education, which are traits that basically come de facto with being in a higher class. There are other advantages as well, such as the social status of whatever your parents do reflecting on to you, as well as rich parents don't hesitate to negotiate with their kids against the school or whatever institution to get what their kids want or reduce consequences for bad behaviour, whereas poor parents generally view their roll as partnering with institutional authority to help discipline their kids resulting in (surprise, surprise) rich kids learning way better negotiation skills which is the basis of being rich (doesn't matter what you can do if you don't get a good deal for doing it, or you lose all your money to people taking advantage of you anyway).

Another fact about people is they generally only compare themselves to their own class and above; so upper-middle class and upper class people generally view their life-style as normal.

Keeping all this in mind, the main argument against the historical victories of feminism is that it has disproportionately benefited upper-middle-class and upper class women. For instance, women in the work-force givesricher women the choice of continuing their career or staying home and raising kids (with easy avenues to do something in parallel or then get back to a career after children are raised); whereas women in the work force for poorer women means generally that two salaries are needed to raise a family, if affordable at all, which does not benefit poorer women nor their children, compared to "subsistence wage" of a man (of fatherhood age) having family raising priced in to that subsistence-wage.

I will admit there's a lot of complaining about feminism in the manosphere by men with essentially zero political or historical knowledge, just assigning everything they see as bad in women culture to feminism, which has no basis in anything any real feminist has said; but there are legitimate arguments as well such as the above one.

Feminism is an intellectual movement that turns out to disproportionately benefit intellectual women. Some countries it is observed (and I would agree with) have shown it's a path to benefiting all women once the intellectual class has more women in it (resulting in better policies for poorer women too), but until that happens I think the criticism is valid and issues of poorer women are often ignored or well meaning policies are actually harmful. I also feel that feminists (usually in the US) fail to understand that being equal to men in a shitty system with a shitty deal isn't necessarily prize worth fighting for (i.e. that the plight of women cannot be separated from that of society as a whole, and in such cases feminism can serve a distraction for deeper structural issues that affect men and women; again, why it's so attractive for rich intellectual women to "fight for women's rights" if it means having zero questions about the political system that keeps them rich and the poor in their place).
