second, if this was natural, what purpose would it serve? a psychopathic or thuggish guy would probbaly be a danger to the female and her offsprings, evolution is about survival above all else.

you could say maybe, men more prone to violence would protect her from dangers, sure but i don't think that archetype is the thug/bad boy, it's the strong looking hardworking worker male type.

and there are also studies suggesting exposure to something could make you ''like'' or ''get'' desentisized to that thing more, exposure, media and social engineering altering perspections is also a thing that has evolutionary reason.

in short, people like whatever media tells them is the cool thing, both men and women.

the same reason some people might like to own nukes even though said nuke would be a danger to everyone including its owner. it's "exciting", and if (in her own fantasy) she 'domesticates' the thug then she really feels powerful. from another perspective, those personages tend to thrive in environments where everyone is more or less expecting to die young no matter what. like, say, a lawless city.

I think it ties into both biological and societal..biologically females might look for a guy they view as someone who can handle other men if the situation arises, they pick it either consciously or subconsciously..second is definitely societal because the “thug” type has been glorified in media and especially in the black community other things like a straight laced dude is considered “square” “corny” or “boring.” They’ve been glorified as money makers and some women have the “I can fix him” mentality that was sold to them at some point in some media somewhere. It’s a multi layered issue that takes many forms including the media conglomerates using media to influence things and the public.

Females do like dark triad traits otherwise governments wouldn’t spend billions of dollars combatting domestic violence. If females didn’t like assholes that money could be spent on something more worthwhile

There was also a theory about women liking feminine faces (a lot of women prefer pretty faces with somewhat ripped or low bodyfat bodies) because they would make better fathers, it's all bullshit in the end.

You have to get me data on what kind of men were the most desirable historically, not in modern times or evo psych theories.

Do some research. Look at the Marquis de Sade. Don Juan, Cassanova, Errol Flynn, etc etc. I've referred to beatlemania before too. The dark triad is attractive to women, because it indicates a man who is going to be able to look after them.

Evolution is about survival...but it's not about our survival. It's about the survival of our genes. I think a good example of why it's definitely not about our survival would be the many species where an animal willingly dies in order to reproduce or improve the chances that it's offspring will reproduce.

Anyways, let's cover the many reasons why a woman could benefit from a relationship with a violent man.

  1. if a woman can control a violent man, she has similar benefits to what the man has for being violent trough controlling him.(i.e she can use him to intimidate others to get her way, or maybe if he steals something he will share it with her etc...)

2.Making a violent man angry is obviously dangerous so, there's an incentive for women to want to comply with what violent men want.

3.(and this is the most important one). Whatever benefit violent men get for themselves, are potential benefits for her kids if they inherit those traits.
