This is silly. There were more patriarchs than just kings. They were heads of family on up the ranks to kings. The failure of monogamy is the collapse of a civilization. Patriarchs in Nigeria led to Boko Haram specifically because they were hoarding women and the men became malcontents.

Literally the commonality of great civilizations is monogamy. Quit equating patriarchy with monogamy. Patriarchy is but a parasite upon what really built society.

Monogamous societies tend to be patriarchal. Ancient Greece & Rome were both dominated by patriarchy & monogamous. Christianity has traditionally been that way, too.
