Only 20% of men are incels

January 25, 2023

What do you guys think about the recent GSS Study (2021) Stating that only 20% of men havnt had sex.

Do you belive the data?

Isnt this conflicting with other data and past research.?

Reminder if youre critical of this, you would also have to be critical of the previous years so the "30 % of men are incels" somewhat goes out the window.

ONLY! 20% of country population could be political party, movement, religion, another state.

[–]jumbolarge21 points [recovered] (20 children) | Copy Link

I think it’s way higher and a lot of men are just lying.

[–]SilentFroggy 0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

And paying for sex

[–]TheAutismPill 0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

The GSS data also shows that only 4% of 18-30 men paid for sex in the past year in the past 3 surveys, and it's not obvious that they completely relied on them to get laid at all, plenty of guys with relationships still see escorts

[–]SilentFroggy 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

A lot of men lie and they are a provider in these relationships as well.

The studies account for rates of deception with both men and women. It's an accounted for margin of error.

Most people men and women have sex before the end of their 17th year. More than 70% of adult men in the US are getting regularly laid and more than 80% are getting semi regularly laid (as in they are dating but might not have a date every month).

[–]jumbolarge21 points [recovered] (15 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I don’t believe that at all and there’s plenty of studies that disagree

[–]RocinanteCoffee 0 points1 point  (13 children) | Copy Link

There are no recent legitimate, controlled studies that disagree with this. It's pretty universal for this dataset. Some show a little earlier in the 17th year and some show a little later in the 17th year but all still show by the end of the 17th year for the majority of people losing their virginity for the US. (Globally it's closer to 22).

[–]jumbolarge21 points [recovered] (12 children) | Copy Link

I’m not talking about virginity, I’m talking about how many men are having sex in the past year. It’s only AT MOST 70% and of those men, half are rarely having sex. The vast majority of us men under 30 are not regularly having sex and that percentage is going to keep increasing.

[–]RocinanteCoffee 0 points1 point  (11 children) | Copy Link

It's more than 70% getting regularly laid. 85% having semi-regular sex.

Most men are married by 30.

[–]jumbolarge21 points [recovered] (10 children) | Copy Link

it’s more than 70%

Wrong

85%

Wrong. Reported for spreading disinformation

[–]RocinanteCoffee 0 points1 point  (9 children) | Copy Link

Lmao.

We were talking about sex and relationships and marriages. If you really want to move the goal posts and change topics we can but zoomers and millennials are reporting happier marriages which are already longer lasting than older generations.

It's mostly boomers and Gen X getting divorced. People in their twenties and thirties are having much lower rates and percentages of divorce than older generations and much higher reports of happiness within marriage.

Marriage is becoming way less common, it’s not surprising the percentage that still wanna do it are happier

much lower rates of divorce

Sure but they’re way less likely to get married in the first place. It’s still a pretty high divorce rate, over 25%

I think you are misunderstanding.

The rates and percentages of happiness in these marriages are higher and the rates and percentages of divorce lower, even when compared to the same time spans as older generations.

Sure but they’re way less likely to get married in the first place. It’s still a pretty high divorce rate, over 25%

Most of the divorce rate is boomers and Gen X.

Zoomers and millennials are less likely to get married but more likely to have loving committed long-term relationships outside marriage (living together for example) which is a relatively new development as most places until recent history would not allow unmarried couples to cohabitate. You still have backwards counties in almost every state in the US where property management companies won't rent to unmarried couples and mortgages won't be given to unmarried couples, though it's much less common now. You also have larger percentages of loving, long-term, committed couples who don't want legal/government aspect of their commitment as often as their predecessors.

That uses the exact same data source (the GSS). The 2018 data point was probably a statistical anomaly. The NSFG has a 7x larger sample size in that time period and shows a far slighter rise and no gender gap in the rise either.

If that's what the study says then that's what the study says. Although I would obviously take this with a grain of salt. A 10% difference between this year and last year is not even feasible, women didn't just start becoming more charitable with their pussies in the last 12 months. Also it's common knowledge that "men tend to lie up, and women tend to lie down". Also compared to the previous study which said 30%, how was this study conducted. Underneath what parameters? Where they the same, or different?

[–]noonereadsthisstuff 2 points3 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

42% of women as well, going by those numbers.

But you're assuming all of those people want to have sex or are actively looking.

[–]Zavier221[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm not I know women are celibate by choice.

[–]noonereadsthisstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Some men are as well.

I know guys who dont sleep around or dont have sex outside if relationships.

[–]puririnpa 1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

%20 is enough to have a circlejerk of users whining about shit

[–]Zavier221[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

But it's a lot higher for women so it's basically men dating a small percentage of women.

[–]TOitneverbegun 0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

Not having sex doesn’t make you incel

[–]Last-Post2085 0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah. Am incel hates women but a virgin is a virgin.

[–]TOitneverbegun 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Not really

The 2021 GSS data is strongly biased towards old people. I don't recall the exact numbers because I looked into it like 10 months ago, but there were close to 2500 people surveyed but only around ~50 of them were in the age cohort of 18-22, with less than half of them being male.

Regardless, I don't really care. People ascribe too much value to all these gay ass social studies and surveys. Just look at the cultural zeitgeist to see what's going on. Look at what young men are talking and joking about (both in real life and on the internet), look at the memes that are popular, look at the proliferation of "manosphere" communities and figures like Andrew Tate, and so on. For many men, all it takes is a look at their own lives, and that of their friends around them (cue bluepill shaming: 'you and all your friends are autistic losers sweety').
To me it's clear that the sexual and romantic milieu for many (young) men is very unfavorable.

Also, as an side, people throw around very large percentages as if they're nothing. 20% was how many germans supported the Nazi-party, 20% was the unemployment rate during the Great Depression. Black people make up less than 20% of the population of the US, but you wouldn't just say 'oh who cares about them, it's only a small percentage of population' unless you're from the 1850's.

Even if the numbers are true, you can't say it's 'just' 20%, that's a very significant number.

[–]Antisocial_NihilistRedPill 0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm going to spend some time looking through the source data in the article you posted.

But let's just discuss this at face value for now. Even if this article is completely true, 20% of men being involuntarily celibate is a lot.

Report back on your findings if you may.
