Not surprised. However those with more liberal values should get together with others with more liberal values. Marriage is more a conservative value in my opinion. To everyone who don't say don't marry liberal people. Yeah maybe don't, but also there's nothing wrong in two people with liberal values living together and not getting married. That's pretty much what a lot of people in my country are doing and its working for them. No one is gonna steal your assets if you keep them to yourself, if that's a concern. I'm a liberal woman myself who don't think cheating is inherently wrong, if the person you're with is an abusive AH who don't deserve your loyalty, have cheated on you or can't or won't give you what you need. There's always exceptions.

So, Americans may believe women have a more defensible reason for committing infidelity than men."--- I recall hearing also that both genders have this gender bias. Men think it's more ok for men to cheat and women more ok for women to cheat. i wonder if they're playing some "Sleeping with the Enemy" scenario in their heads or something.
