Crosspost "The only "80/20 rule" on dating apps is that 80/20 is literally the male-to-female user ratio on them" from /r/PurplePillDebate:

As of 2022, Tinder is 78% male and 22% female in the US:

As of 2021, Bumble is almost 70% male and barely 30% female in the US:

In Europe, men outnumber women on Tinder by 9-to-1, while Bumble is roughly 80% male and 20% female:

In my opinion, the rise in incel discourse revolving around dating is simply down to very few women actually using dating apps. Millions of men piled into the world's biggest sausage fest on the promise of low-cost, low effort casual sex with conventionally attractive women, women themselves didn't follow, and now they don't know how to cope. They don't want to admit they've been manipulated, humiliated and used by a handful of rich men to be bled out via never ending Premium purchases and fake matches with bots to keep them going, so they turn to conspiracy theories. From "there's a handful of Chris Hemsworths and Brad Pitts quietly going around hoarding all the women in Middle Eastern style harems!" to "women these days won't even look at a man unless he's 6'2, has a six-pack, hulking arms, a six-figure income and a Bugatti!", it's all designed to shift the reality of their own manipulation onto some external reason.

What do you think about this?

Women use these apps, get an fwb or two, then get off them.

then the men would also get off,

why is it o hard to believe dating apps are just shitty

Men generally have higher libidos than women. So the high value men stay on looking for more plates to spin.

Even if the gender ratios were balanced, there's no evidence to suggest that women would be more balanced in who they're swiping right on — quite the opposite, in fact.

There's no evidence that staying on dating apps isn't detrimental to men

Most men who are relying on them don't have much of another choice.

This makes sense if you just take for granted that there are more men on dating apps than women. The problem that makes it so that you can't take it for granted is that the ratios could very much be explained by the very thing you are implying is shown to not be the case by the ratios.

i.e maybe men struggle so much with dating in real life that they feel more pressure to try every dating strategy possible while women are so privileged that online dating is just an unnecessary convenience for them.

Meaning the ratios are representative of each genders dating struggles rather than an explanation of them.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
