arethestraightsok is a garbage subreddit
[–]Seszer-06 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link
Just the name of the sub makes me so irrationally angry. Like, if it was r/arethegaysok is would be considered homophobic but this isn't "heterophobic". And the content of the sub is fucking trash too, as you would expect
[–]beniesixx98 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link
No because not all gays are ok . And honestly its needs to be pointed out .
[–]dylan21502 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
Would you care to elaborate..? I agree.. just wanna hear/read more (although..tbh..I may or may not be back)
[–]beniesixx98 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
Like for starters gay people trying to "turn" heterosexual people or the LGBTQ not accpecting bisexual people etc.
[–]dylan21502 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Hmm... Interesting, definitely haven't think about it like that. Since when do they not like the indecisives (bi)?
[–]beniesixx98 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Oh alot of gays and lesbians dont like bi people like i had someone tell my brother that since hes bi that he consented to being sexually harassed in his sleep. I had a lesbian tell me im not "really" gay because i like guys and gals . Like they have tried for years to get rid of bisexuals .Its nothing new

Marriage = prostitution with extra steps.

I personally believe it's a courtesy and a sign of manhood and independence when a man pays, but if it is taken advantage of, it's just muddafuckingshit. Also, if you do have a genuine relationship, there will be times when the girl pays instead.
[–]ohdiddly 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well it'd be very easily taken advantage of if you feel like it's something you have to do to prove your manhood lol

Traditionally women were considered property of their fathers or husbands so... I mean.... It is what it is.
Edit: in many many many areas outside of the United States, this is STILL a very common societal concept
[–]Estenar 26 points27 points28 points 3 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link
Back in those days, yeah. Women were seen as those, who were at home, providing for husband and child. There were times where women could get education and educated people(pedagogos, philosophers...etc.) had different point of view of women. But everybody had role in society. Like men could not choose what do to, women also could not choose. Men were providers and if they were not, they were outcasts, like women. But time has changed and people can do anything they want to, so I do not really know your point.

Let's not forget the whole reputable thing in the Victorian society
[–]Estenar 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I am not really familiar with that, it is about those harsh times with low paying, long lasting jobs? Even for children? EDIT: oh boy, it was even harsher than that, for both sexes.
[–]lucky-lee-o 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link
People doing anything they want don't rid the consequences of actions. This is as true now as it was thousands of years ago. The only thing now is that we have so called safety nets that society is supposed to provide those who, for whatever reason, do not live up to traditional ideals (which are very much still alive)
Fathers are still seen as protectors and providers of women and children, so on some level, there is an association of women and children as property. (Consider the reputation of a man who does not provide or protect his family) A man is considered an ideal husband if his wife wants for nothing and has the option to stay at home and take care of his family. Also, a man is considered an ideal father if he provides well enough to pay for a daughter's upbringing, education, and marriage (Most often to a man of the same "caliber"). I agree it hasn't been common in my lifetime, however, it doesnt stop people from having high standards at one point or another in their lifetime.
It's only been replaced on some level by concepts like "sugar daddies" and "sugar babies" as the traditional family continues to breakdown across America. Stay at home dads and families where both parents are full time workers are recent developments. Even during the time of the boomers growing up, it was often encouraged that women attend college to find a well to do husband with a traditional idea of marriage and family as I've described before. It sounds bad but we are still operating on software of human nature that hasn't changed much. Society has changed moreso due to technological advances.

Back in old days, the only think that measure what is good or bad was based on religion, mostly christianity or at least in Europe. You did not question dogmas!
But with everything else you said, I agree. Even tho we live in a world, where anybody can who anything if they are willing to sacrifice something of it, at the end of the day, most people are doing what their guts are telling them, family and social roles, even if you do not want to admit it, that little piece of that is still in you.

Religious texts aren't complete falsehoods...
Proverbs 6:26 For a prostitute’s fee is only a loaf of bread...
I think men don't understand the difference between prostitutes and potential. But when you look at how sex has been used to sell everything to everybody, why wouldn't America be full of whores and johns?
This is a big reason why there's a subreddit r/WitchesVsPatriarchy...feminists have even gone against patriarchal religion because they have to change the narrative of what a prostitute is and does. When's the last time you've seen a virgin your age? Marriage is a tradition where women married as virgins. It may not be the case today, but don't you think women understand this??? You don't think women understand their value as a virgin in this society? You don't think they know their value as a woman who has lost her virginity unwed? C'mon man the consequences are still there, it's just, unfortunately, so common that people in this society have been led against using their better judgment.
