Its scientific illiteracy, plain and simple. For a start, we don't actually know if the degradation of the Y chromosome will actually result in it disappearing, there are other genetic factors at play that may save it. Even if it does disappear its not projected to happen for another 4-5 million years, which is quite a while given that we've only been around for a couple of hundred thousand years. Even then it won't be the end for men because the role of the y chromosome will most likely just be taken up by another, this is exactly what happened in other species that lost their y chromosome.
