In order to keep a slave complacent, one must instill in the slave's mind from early on that his enslavement is something noble, that his toiling is sacred, and that his shackles are made from the finest gold. He must be made to think of himself as blessed to do the work of others, and strong to be without any reward for his efforts.

In short, the slave must be trained to not only accept lies, but more importantly, to also enthusiastically lie to himself.

This post is generally about Jordan Peterson's very standard and wrong view on reality that men don't grow up unless they have babies. There are NO standards more than age and emotional maturity. His views that going up to a strangers babies and doing weird sounds/facial expression is more mature just because you do it to a kid. When people walk up on the streets and make faces or sounds towards a baby that's not more mature cause you're acting foolish in public to make it laugh. If you do weird sounds/facial expression towards animal, people would look at you funny cause it's a unacceptable social behavior to animals - but not babies. This is because it's a socially acceptable thing - not maturity.

2:47 - Babies are generic until you have one and then your baby isn't generic baby at all.

Because the mother and father form a connection to their baby after some time generally. I know personal exceptions, where mothers have been sloppy cause they don't care about them.

3:40 - He says that the prestige element to the relationship between parent and their kids are terribly devalued in our society so I don't know if he's only talking about the place where he lives in but where I live its shown as a staple in your life in movies.

The whole You actually don't grow up until someone is more important than you. is only for men because as a female relative, said in the car on our way to other relatives if there is a plane crash and she could only save one person, she would save herself. Women simply grow up by physically aging. There's no extra strings attached. The ideal of growing up is just a chain for the male sex. Just sacrifice yourself for the opposite sex and gain nothing in return. Men need to ditch this chain and instead find self-worth in doing what it is they really enjoy doing. People do not think babies are important. If we did, why did we stop having them as automation took over? Babies and children are just hardwork to people now. Babies and children were important in the past to look after the parents in old age and to be extra hands plowing the farms and doing the heavy labor. When Peterson mentions someone else more important than you he only means having some woman being enslaved as a man.

Peterson's whole thing can really come down to "propagation of the species." If men don't have children then the species doesn't propagate itself. He has a lot of wisdom and I have a lot of respect for him. But, I feel he's wrong on many things unless you view the world through collectivism. Also, his overuse of the Bible is a turnoff.
