My wife and i been discussing divorce for a while now. We have 2 children below the age of 7.

We own a property but I'm not sure how we can afford to buy 2 separate homes? Surely a lot of people have found themselves in this situation?

It doesn't look as though I can afford to buy her out and it also doesn't look as though we can sell and both get our own homes!

House Value - 300k

130k Equity - Split between us is 65k each

4x my wage (124k) plus 65k Equity is 189k

I cannot find a 2 or bed 3 bed home for this amount of money in the South East, I'll need at least 220k.

I have seen some new build houses that do shared ownership, perhaps we will need to sell our home and both join this scheme?

Or alternatively sell the house and then both rent until we find a new partner?

Any help is much appreciated, I imagine a lot of people find themselves in this position.
