The overwhelming number of journalists killed are male. If anything, a 50% increase in one year should be cause for celebration from UN Women. It means more women are becoming war correspondents, of whom something like 75% are men, and taking other more risky assignments, i.e. it means we are moving towards gender parity in journalism.

Of course, I'd imagine their idea of gender equality would be a 50/50 gender split in war correspondents, but a 100% male death ratio.
