nothing wrong with being single, specially considering how bad it is to get into relationships with women

> the rise of single men

is that a bad thing?

Yes

It’s not a bad thing, It just means that you’re less likely to be in a relationship with a terrible person. The one who is the right partner for you is one that will lower their standards to be with you as a person. Not after your wealth, looks or what ideas society considers acceptable or not.

I haven't read the article but judging from the tweet, it seems like they are blaming Men on being not able to meet standards of Women. As we all know this is completely bullshit. One of the main powers women have in their society is to validate behavior of Men with their sexual attention and this is why I think, Women have been perpetuating something they call toxic masculinity. "Healthy standards" In relationships. No serious sociologist or psychologist will believe that current relationship standards are in anyway healthy. Due to many women being groomed into feeling entitled for everything, Men have been pretty much commodified in the dating market, not to say there is no commodification of Women but I have seen that Men have made genuine attempts to decrease this commodification have basic human respect, while Hetrosexual women on the other hand have pretty much increased the shallow standards society has put on Men. Women also have perpetuated toxic Masculinity by sexually rewarding Men who abuse others, I am speaking from anectodes of course but throughout my life, it's pretty clear that a goon with some criminal status and power will always have more sexual success than a "healthy minded nice guy". I think it's pretty misandrist to still keep putting blame on Men and also as a society we should accept that Women can also be wrong and Shallow.

Yeah, I think there are a lot of mental gymnastics going on here.

You have women in their late 20's and early 30's realizing that they passed up all the good guys for the goons. They're seriously regretting the fact that they had their first sexual/romantic experiences, things that are supposed to be precious memories, with bad boys that didn't deserve them. They feel "ruined" and wasted their youth in a way. But because a lot of guys are angry (rightly so) about being passed up on for years only for women to suddenly decide NOW that they wanted them all along, they're refusing to be the leftover pickings. So that is making these women extremely depressed and panicking about their future prospects.

Therefore to escape the looming, bottomless abyss before them, they have to rationalize that ALL men are trash, and the good ones never existed, so they technically didn't fuck up by going with goons. They also seem to transmute their anger at the goons onto the good guys, probably because they're mad at them for not being fine with being the leftover pickings. I think that is one reason why there is so much hate and paranoia directed at "nice guys" (saying they're all secretly assholes who only want sex).

I almost feel bad for them. A lot of men might have absolutely none of those critical memories that are supposed to help you pair bond with women as a young adult, but I'd rather have no memories than negative ones that I regretted. Also, we're used to getting no attention. I imagine it must quite a shock for young women to stop receiving it.

Not saying this about ALL women, but if anything is a "rising trend", it is what I described above.

There was a researcher who was abble to predict the number of sexual partners of men using metrics such as "are you a member of a gang", "have you already fought someone using a blade weapon", etc... with quite some accuracy. I havve to find it again.

And to the surprise of no one, the higher your violence metrics, the higher the number of your sexual partners...

Also, for each point of IQ in college, you have an increase probability of being a late virgin as a man, so there is that too....

To the men here that question if a bunch of men being single is a bad thing, yes, yes it is. Society thrives when men and women cooperate, not combat one another.

As for the article, I'm aware they are trying to say that mens options are dwindling because of women's higher standards but when you actually think about it, it's because men are becoming more and more aware of low values behaviors in women that more men are staying single.

This isn't a good thing. If women actually were desirable again, maybe men would not walk away.

I couldn't care less of "society thrives" if it means I'm fucking miserable

Do they really not realize there's as many single men as single women? Unless the women are part of some kind of harem arrangement.

The difference is men generally are cool with being alone. In fact some prefer it. But for women: just look at the statistics of single middle aged women and depression.
