It's scary to think that if this was directed at any other group that's overrepresented in violent crime/murder perpetration (e.g. African Americans) everyone would instantly spot the hate speech and this wouldn't be allowed in a modern-day newspaper. However hate speech towards men has been so normalized that this is perfectly acceptable.

Great, another feminist trying to incite a moral panic. The fear of neurodivergent and mentally ill young men.

It should be noted that the author of this article, Maureen Callahan, has written articles in support of Amber Heard during the trial. That should tell you everything you need to know.

Yes, mass shooters are overwhelmingly male. They are also mentally ill and in deep psychological pain.

The fact that these mass shootings are almost invariably muder-suicides tells me that this issue is an ugly branch of the suicide epidemic that plagues men. These guys are committing suicide, and they want to lash out as hard as they can on the way out.

I think I have some insight into the phenomenon, having flirted with the idea myself at one time (over twenty years ago. I'm in a much better place now). I can say that feeling deeply unloved, disrespected, and hopeless about the future are huge components that feed into that mindset.

Therapy and a less misandrist society would do much more to fight this "public health crisis" than feminist demonization of males ever will. What we need is a more empathetic attempt at understanding young men in that position. Unfortunately, piling additional stigma onto damaged young men will NOT do the trick.

They will never stop to ask why these young men are angry and violent, or suggest anything to remedy the mental health crisis in this country.

looks like they've dropped the ''white'' and started to target all males, if you keep allowing them their generalizations will keep getting broader and their hate speech will keep getting more extreme

If men stop being demonised and instead get treated with sympathetic humanity, they would not be so angry with the world.

Right, the greatest health crisis is not suicide, obesity, smoking, or car accidents, each of which kill more people every year than all mass shootings combined.

Anything to avoid talking about the real issue I guess. Which is that we defend rich, privileged, career politicians with guns, but as soon as anyone suggests the radical idea of defending children with guns, they get labelled a right wing gun-obsessed loon.

Also, I'm waiting for someone to write a parody article about how the "angry young American female" is the greatest public health crisis. Because most people who abuse children are women, amirite? Something tells me they would not like the shoe when it is on the other foot.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
