Living with your parents is a huge fucking cock block. Guys have no clue how much this holds them back. It's a logistical nightmare to bang with while living with your folks. I've lost count to the amount of opportunities i lost because of it.

Delayed marriage is yet another perfectly valid reason. Most sex is had within the context of relationships, so yeah.

Overall, taking longer to grow up is also a huge factor. Heck, im 28, when my parents were my age they were already married with kids. Nowadays, i got friends who are over their 30s and are still teenagers in essence, many are at college, ain't got no jobs, spend their time playing videogames. It no wonder people stay virgins for longer now.

Economic reasons are definitely the backbone behind all of this. I live with my parents now and throughout college. Trying to hit-up women now is a waste of f*cking time. Young people can't afford to move-out, and who wants to be intimate in your parent's house?

On the real cause:

The share of men aged 22-35 who have never been married is higher today than at any time since the first data we have, going back to 1880. The married share for these men is far lower than the historic norm. Unmarried people have less sex in general, so even if celibacy rates within marital status are the same, the sexless population grows.

It's the economy:

Men and women are much less likely to get married while attending school, and across times and countries, an increase in the years of schooling is associated with later age of marriage, though more-educated people do tend to get married eventually. Thus, as more and more schooling becomes necessary for a good middle-class job, marriage gets pushed later and later, leaving more young people (men and women!) companionless and lonely.

Increased competition in the market leads to increased housing prices which demand increased salaries, which demand increased levels of education. Men are pursuing higher education, often while living with their parents, to the exclusion of marriage, which means less sex.

The solution? Pursue an education in communication and emotional skills instead of just learning how to make money, and find women who aren't so materialistic.

Short of that, we can always overthrow capitalism, ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )

I'm going to reiterate what I told someone else here:

So many of the comments here insisting that women can just have sex with anyone if they truly want to tells me ALL I need to know about the incel's understanding of female sexuality, or even your own skills in the bedroom.

It's not a matter of how easy it is to have sex with women. Is sex in and of itself "easy" to get? Sure, I suppose it is. I don't think I've ever really had an issue getting sex. Now, is most sex a pleasurable experience for women like it is for men? Hell to the no.

For men, you stick your dick in a hole and thrust until you cum. That's it. Of course, it can be made better, it can be made worse, but if you can very well just wanted to pump and dump. The end of sex is always a pleasurable one, save for bad smells or something out of the ordinary that makes it impossible. Many men cannot fathom sex being anything but pleasurable for women because they have a poor understanding of women's sexuality.

The same cannot be said for women. In fact, bad sex is WORSE than not having sex at all. It is a frustrating experience that I cannot put into words. It is a disgusting experience to have some sweaty dude plop on your chest 3 minutes into pumping away and then have the audacity to ask if you came. Yeah, to my sense, get the fuck out of my house.

And this, my friends, is probably why a bunch of guys incels don't deem worthy of having sex, have sex. The world is filled with short men that have sex. The world is filled with fat guys that have sex. The world is filled with ugly guys that have sex. Difference is, those are guys are more likely worth having sex with because they'll actually make you, as a woman, cum and demonstrate this to their partners in different ways.

These people already have a black mark for research that attempted to prove gay parents are not as good as het parents. They are a Koch backed research firm.

Great read but I still don't feel as though this is the reason. Multiple articles have studies that were done that prove that heterosexual married couples have less sex than couples that are unmarried and cohabitating and even the upper echelon of single men and women. I never really believed in the 80/20 except in the relation to Tinder. What I mainly disagree with is that the article said that more people are staying in school and living at home. I'd imagine that living at home would put a dampening on things but in college, you meet people and this could lead to more sex whether in dorms or otherwise. We as a society are shifting away from religious-based abstinence so that can't be an argument. Of course, you could argue that some are possibly too far gone. These are your people that you could visually identify as being an incel and move on but what about average guys. These are your healthy members of society who exercise and have decent careers but fall below the height cutoff or they have unattractive facial features. How do you explain these people not having sex even in college where it should be easier?

I read the article and I must say that I did not understand everything. Probably it's because my opinion on the matter is that even if women had higher standards, there would no problem because you can't just ask people to lower their standards.

Furthermore I am pretty sure that it is incels who have weird high standards because of all the porn they watch, where cute and beautiful girls are the mainstream abused material who are shown to want sex all the time for no reason at all.

Let's face it, incels don't care about studies, they believe what they want to believe so they can play the victim whilst projecting their self hate onto women and men they deem superior to themselves.

It's a self-esteem issue and one that could be corrected if they wanted to. But the victimhood mentality is where they get self-pity and sympathy from other incels and if you take that away they have nothing so they remain the same only fall deeper into the "woe is me" mindset until they snap.

I don't really like the article and i find it really misses the point as what actually the incel argument is and why incels say the things they say. how come it's rising for men and not for women. It's not like only men are not getting married. I think the author is being disingenuous and don't want to admit that women can always have sex if they wanted and for men it's only a select few who can be promiscuous and attract women. So if the marrige rates is falling for both sexess for men it will affect their ability to get laid but not really for women, but that supports the incel argument anyway. Also, not to mention online dating and things like the 80/20 and the fact that by 2030 50% of couples would meet online it would make sense why it's rising for guys and why what incels are saying is true as opposed to this over disingenuous explanation to prove incels wrong. So i really disagree with the conclusion being presented here.

The "Chadpocalypse" is a meme at best, "disproving" it is a real red herring when it comes to attempting to refute the blackpill.

Evidence suggests that in sexual selection on human males, intrasexual competition plays a larger role than female choice. Results from structural equation models and selection analyses revealed that physical dominance, but not sexual attractiveness, predicted mating success.

Basically the importance is more on dominance than attractiveness itself. That means that women don't pick men based on how attractive they are, but how attractive they are in comparison to other men.
If everyone looks more attractive it doesn't shift anything, the same proportion or amount of men will still be dominant over the rest, and get the attention of women.

Mate poaching and mate-choice copying are robust phenomena, and are here to stay. When single women see a moderately attractive male, they are more interested in him if they believe he is already in a relationship. This study found 90 percent of single women were interested in a man who they believed was taken, while a mere 59 percent wanted him when told he was single. 93% for men and 82% for women reported being recipients of mate poaching in this study.
