Okay, so i was replying to someone but decided to make this a small post instead.

The other day i had a shower thought has to why the supposed "inceldom" is rising among both men and to a smaller extent women. Exactly what changed in our lifestyle in the last 20 or so years that could have possibly contributed for that? One popular answer is that people have been living with parents or room mates for much longer which is an essential cockblock, but there's also an obvious answer that people are forgeting that seems to be like quite the Columbus egg.

The internet.

People have been hooked way more on the internet. In 2019, the average worldwide internet usage was 7 hours a day! People get off work and school, go home and turn on the computer to watch netflix or social media. Even during real life social interactions, people are often hooked on their phones online. Nobody imagines their lifes without internet.

However, despite occupying much of our lives, internet doesn't offer alternative dating options. Contrary to popular believe, only 28% of people aged 18-29 have ever used dating apps, and only 8% are current users, with people in their 30s having similar stats. Generally speaking, dating apps don't seem to have the best of reputation for the majority of people and most people prefer to ignore them.

Because people are investing less in real life social networks and don't rely much on the internet for dating, the inevitable side effect is more loneliness and, by proxy, less dating success.
