You see this if you look at therapy versus PUA. PUA sells you an “image outcome” of becoming a hot manly man and tells you the way to get there is other image outcomes - don’t care, don’t be attached what have you. It’s the wordier equivalent to telling a depressed person not to be depressed. On the other hand, therapy actually dives into the root causes to change a persons experience of life. Which route is more effective? The second. Which route is more appealing to emotionally injured men? The first. Creating division, insecurity, self-doubt, all of it’s good for business. There are two levels we live at I believe. The first is our authentic voice and the other is reducing ourselves to 2D images and trading currency to upgrade that image or downgrade. All images are controlled by other people because by definition an image is someone out there looking at you. A person playing the image game will be controlled by those controlling their image. The controller says buy this item to upgrade your image, you buy it because you believe you’re nothing more than your “image.”

The big boys and girls profit most when more people are living their lives in the 2D image game. If everyone lived in the first, the capitalist would crumble.

I believe a PUA who has the best interests of his clients with no incentive to make money would recommend therapy to most of his clients because therapy makes the biggest difference. But they don’t because they’re making money or aren’t even aware they’re sucked into the image-based game themselves.

I see the profiting off the division more as a side benefit. The primary driver appears to be protecting the 1%’s power and wealth by neutralizing threats.

If women, LGBT, etc. are perceived as inferior and belittled, they cannot compete and replace the cis-het white men in power. Are they happy to invest in the profit of division too, no question.

But as others stated, misogyny and homophobia, etc. are deeply baked in to society so the division, while propagated, is very much real in the minds of the misogynists.

It's been obvious to me for quite a while that those in power are doing everything they can to keep us divided. Man vs. woman, black vs. white, rich vs. poor, theist vs. atheist, left wing vs. right wing, old vs. young, and so forth. It's all over the media, every minute of every day. They know that by making us hate each other more than we hate them, we won't unite to overthrow them and they stay in power.

That being said, they are not entirely to blame. They can throw as much gas as they want, it won't burn anything unless there's already a fire going. Humans tend to hate and fear people who aren't like them. It was probably useful thousands of years ago when people who looked different, acted different and spoke a different language were from a rival tribe who could kill you and take your resources, but nowadays it's tearing us apart.

And yes, people at the top are profiting off of our misery, but the only reason they can is because we keep giving them our money. We buy crap we don't need because of our desire to fit in with the people we like and our desire to be better than those we dislike. Without the consumers, businesses have no power. You can choose to stop watching the news, or to get your news from sources outside the mainstream. You can choose to stop buying products from big businesses and either buy from small businesses or make the stuff yourself. You can choose to accept people for their differences instead of hating them. Easier said than done, but it is doable. Not all rich people are bad, but we need to pay closer attention to whose pockets we're filling up.

I could go on, but I don't want to start a political debate.

Capitalists will definitely work to profit off of racism, sexism, etc.

But that doesn't mean these aren't still very big, important issues that we can just sweep under the rug to go fight the capitalists. We actually have to address and solve these issues as well.

There is no singular game here. There is no conspiracy of the 'people in power' because there's a great diversity among those people. Rich people are no hive mind and there's really not any money to be made off of division either. Division leads to a lack of stability and confidence. A lack of stability and confidence make building anything, be it a family, a business, an investment portfolio or a piece of physical plant or infrastructure.

These may still be artificial tribal politics. That's because the fastest way to power is often to double down in attracting members of 'your side' even if it means driving away members 'their side'. That doesn't necessarily mean that 'your side' and 'their side' are overtly collaborating to make this happen. The dispute is there, it's just amplified since the areas were we disagree are the areas that get attention.

I don't really disagree but I see this kind of thing a lot and I'm struggling with the HOW this happens, in a practical sense. There's no doubt the people in power are trying to keep the status quo, that the poor are too busy, overworked, sick and exhausted to do much about it.

But how does this happen? Are you saying the Murdochs of the world have secret meetings where they literally make plans to use their influence with the literal goal of 'keeping people divided'? Or is it just the by-product of capitalism, fighting for that status quo, death by a thousand cuts type thing?

One paints the 1% as abjectly evil, the other as simply self-absorbed assholes.

This is kind of a different question I know but I've been meaning to ask this for a while and you/this community seem like you'd be receptive to discussion!

Economic injustice has had cycles, usually, the king died, the new king forgave all debts, or reissued the money so debts lessened. Basically giving everyone a clean start. The greeks and Romans had an uprising every few hundred years when things started sucking. We are now getting to ours in the financial aspect, but you are talking about social dynamics.

My view is the person in power dividing is religion. The culture war divide is along the same lines as religion. Churches are businesses. They have a limited population to pull from, they try to get as big a community as they can and siphon money, like any business. They also historically have been governments they hold power over people's minds.

People hate losing power and in America, religion has lost a lot because it has spent the majority of its energy fighting other religions. They would report each other for acting in political ways, then scoop up lost "sheep" when they would get shut down. Eventually, someone made a bargain that they would lift the ban or simply not enforce it and we get the unholy war we see today.

By creating a moral issue, because no one cared about abortion before, you can hack people to vote against themselves because it's a moral issue in their minds. Vote for the evil person that will help you, or vote for the moral person that will do nothing. For religious people, that's the gambit. They are ok with the status quo and fearful of god. So they vote their conscience.

This creates a stupid long fight of social stuff and the non-human corporations, religious entities, and markets loot everyone. No abortion and no social nets why? So churches keep populations infected with religion and they can provide the services themselves siphoning cash in the process. They can set the rate and quality, and demand they worship to get it. Functioning secular government replaces religion so they fight it.

Corporations are the same way, they are tiny fiefdoms, complete with a king, knights as goons, lords, and the little seif workers. Capitalists see women as cheap labour, they wont work as hard due to the added responsibility of needing additional time off. Then they play them off the men and BOTH ended up with wages that have been cut, and profitability of the company is up.

But you don't want the women getting to successful, so no abortions. Where religion, culture, and government meet and end is always a fight. Thats where we get these "redpill gaps", where people are raised in one system then have to be adults in a different one and have trouble adapting.

What happens is that elections are decided on issues that are on people's minds, and the candidate is a ready 'solution' to the problems. Problems exist on their own, but the media decides which problems we talk about.

I don’t think it’s economic so much as there’s a whole generation with more basement dwellers than any other. It took a lot more to be a shut-in before the internet and social media.

Lots of men and women lack experience being friends with and dating the opposite sex and are prone to generalized, outrage-fueled views about them.

For men it takes the form of longing for more sexist times and convincing themselves misogyny is natural and better, and for women it’s a backlash to the former that can at times go too far.

I identify as red pill and I don’t think it’s because some rich powerful group of people are pulling my puppet strings lol. I think I’m red pill because when I was in my 20’s I followed the script that society laid out for me. I got a job at 18. I worked hard I got my wage raises through out my 20’s. I dated and made the first move. I vehemently believed in monogamy. I went to church and did the Christian thing. Women in the church were more hypergamous then women outside the church. I found the red pill and that connected all the dots. Is someone profiting off of my red pill awareness? As far as I can tell just the people who’s books I buy and YouTube videos that I watch. But when I disagree with what they say and what they think enough to believe that they’re full of it I can quit watching and reading their content and they’ll stop profiting off of me.
