It's like everything revolves around becoming someone you're not, and doing things just to get a girl's attention.

I read a post recently about where one lonely guy even tried to change his race, his height, his accent. Things you can't change. You can put on a different accent, undergo procedures or put on makeup to look like a different race, or change your footwear. But none of it is genuine.

Or how they try working out, weightlifting, getting haircuts, practicing hygiene, being more social and having a better attitude, doing better in school and work, all to impress a woman. It's like they don't see the benefit of doing these things just for themselves. Just for the sake of it.

Desperation scares people away. Putting on an act... people are going to figure out that you're lying sooner, not later.

Real life example: when Barack Obama was in college, he used to read Noam Chomsky's work to try to impress girls. All of the other guys were reading such highly intellectual work because of the value of it in itself. Obama did it to get girls, and it didn't work. He admitted it in an interview. He looks back on it and laughs at how stupid he was.

Where is the drive to be who you really want to be?
