The porn industry is literally teaching women that they should be abused in bed and that not only is this the ‘norm’ but that if they do not like it, they are kink shaming and boring.

Why is it becoming more and more normalised to accept verbal and physical abuse in the most intimate parts of your relationship? This is absolutely terrifying. We are grooming an entire generation of women to be sexually abused and degraded for their own ✨empowerment✨.

There’s been some good posts and comments on FDS about who ‘owns’ or investing in porn.

As power structures are self-replicating they find new ways to respond to potential threats which undermine their interests. This is why we’re seeing this abuse of women being sold off as “eMp0wErMeNt”.

These moguls are so keen to profit off abuse of women because they know that men are attracted to being dominant over women, as this planet has forever taught them that.

When you’ve got at least 50% of the population on your side, that’s a huge market, it becomes even bigger when you propagate to women under the guise if empowerment, then you’re really in the money.

I agree with you. Women insist everything about men's behavior is based on socialization alone, but I don't buy it.

Men have beaten, tortured, raped, degraded, and hated women long before modern pornography existed. Men created porn out of their desire to subjugate women, and porn is a reflection of that desire.

Porn exacerbates misogyny, but even if all porn were wiped out tomorrow, misogyny would continue to exist. Men would find other ways to satiate their desire to harm women.

I believe many men are just plain evil and sadistic. It's not society, their parents or peers that made them that way; they are that way because they like being sadistic and exerting power over women. Porn is one facet of it.

If men and women were exactly the same, we'd see just as many popular videos of women choking men, spitting on men, torturing men, raping men, etc. But we don't. Even femdom is still all about male desires and doesn't reach to the levels of your average male-dominated hetero porn.

To sum it up: I don't think men are shit because of porn; I think men have always been shit and porn is shit because of them. Bleak, but I'm tired of skirting around it.

It saddens me too, but I think it's worthwhile to reach out to other women. The more women encourage one another to criticize pornography, instill self-confidence in our boundaries, and reject men's fetishes and kinks, the more we can keep ourselves safe and healthy.

If men are going to stop watching pornography, it's probably going to happen after ruthless shaming from other men they respect, or after porn-use begins to severely disrupt their lives.

Despite how bleak nature is, I believe humans are a combination of nature and nurture, and we have the capability to control our actions. Men can control themselves and their urges, but a lot of them don't want to, and that's their problem.

I also find this deeply depressing to think about and try not to. I do have a few positive male friendships in my life but they are few and far in between and I never doubt they could turn out to be like the rest, I just live knowing that. I accept that they may be kind to me now but I'm always ready for that to change.

Still it hurts, knowing I can never truly love a man without fearing this. But the evidence is rather undeniable.

I do think there’s a psychological reason it appeals to men. I’m not sure if it’s inherent as much as latent tendency which is reinforced by powerful outlets of the patriarchy.

That said, if we can exercise agency and challenge it then so can men. I’m not one for false-class consciousness so I’m not going to let men off the hook for saying they’re brainwashed by society 🤡

Like, obviously male vice has a lot to do with the popularity of porn, but men are for better or for worse as much blank slates from birth as women. Yes, testosterone, but that doesn’t give them the IDEAS that the porn industry itself perpetuates.

Why would you not blame the industry and its decades-long push to expose people at increasingly younger ages to porn? It is not some benevolent happy place full of harmless people having fun: it is an industry built on RAPE and suffering and pain and making as much money as possible off those things. It is not just a hapless victim of men’s vices.

There is nothing “inherent’ in men’s psychology, this evolutionary psych shit is 100% bullshit and it is an excuse people give men to behave badly while blaming anything else.

I definitely agree men aren’t victims. But there are individual men who profit far more off pornography than a lot of the individual men who watch it. In other words, porn has both high-profiting and low-profiting dividends.

Of course individual men can pretend they don’t have agency, but they do in their choice to consume it. This drives demand for more extreme pornography — p0rnsick limp d*ck — they saddle themselves with ED. Well you should have made better choices.

Once you have a generation of ED men sexually frustrated taking it out on women it’s easier to distract from the ones profiteering from the p0rn industry. There is a structural dimension to p0rn and why it remains prolific. But this doesn’t invalidate the subjective element. That is the discussion of how men as individuals use p0rn as part of their own-imposed regulation over their sexuality. Both Marx and Foucault are relevant here.

TL;DR ofc men have a choice to consume porn but it doesn’t make their dividend from watching it all that favourable both from an individual perspective and as a collective societal perspective.

Men are not blank slates who are helpless to the trauma of childhood exposure to pornography. Most girls are exposed to porn during their childhoods as well but I don't see them acting like this. A lot of people say evopsych is bullshit but what else am I supposed to believe? Every time, everywhere, they fall back into the same patterns of misogyny. My heart breaks for Gen Z women. It was bad enough when I was a teenager, and it's only getting worse. Porn use was ubiquitous then too, but kink didn't seem as prevalent and most guys I knew thought anal was gross and had no interest in trying it out.

The majority of girls saying this stuff are just so young. They have very little dating experience. They have even less real world adult life experience. They are absolutely being groomed by outside forces (those forces are men, particularly older and more worldly men) because they have no experience to compare against.

Keep in mind that it is time honored teenage tradition to do and say shocking things. Scrotes know this because they too were once teenagers; it’s very easy to get a teen to talk about BDSM and sexual violence because it seems edgy and like something that will make their parents “mad”.

I actually had a conversation about this with a (former) friend who is a self-titled "cool girl". I said that I don't get it and think it's super harmful. Friend was like "oh but romantic stuff is so boring, you're such a prude". Proceed to say that she'd love degradation from a boyfriend even out of bed, saying it would make her feel "safe and loved". We were in high school.

Same girl once said she'd prefer a dude texting her in the morning "what's up, stupid/bitch/bimbo" over a cute pet name or asking how she's feeling, "because it's more carefree". A friend of hers apperently groped her once when she was drunk and she apologized it to me, saying "well it's okay, It's not like he hurt me."

The only way to overcome pornsickness is to keep calling out the pitiful losers who use it. It is pointless arguing why porn is unethical, because they don’t care, or can’t think that deeply. Call them out, do it loudly, don’t argue or get upset, otherwise you play into the ‘insecure/jealous’ nonsense they throw around.

Shame them. Make it short, sharp and painfully accurate. Don’t engage when they try to argue or say “all men watch porn”, unless you want to throw back at them “All men watch porn, but not all men assault women? That seems like a stretch, David. Time to pick a side. Are you like all men or are you capable of empathic and independent thought?”

Arguing with men like this makes them think you care. We don’t care about pornsick losers, because they’re terrible in bed. Utterly, completely, wastefully awful. If you encounter one, slap him down with a line and walk away. If he tries to neg or argue with you, just laugh (but make sure you’re in a safe place - Men fear women will laugh at them. Women fear men will kill them).
