Let me tell you about my NV ex...I was awful back then for sticking around. 3.5 yrs together and he was unemployed for about 21mos of that because he was laid off the first time, then didn’t like that his boss yelled at him for not working hard (a lady boss) so he got himself fired.
What a waste of time.

FACTS. I am scrolling reddit in my recliner listening to the toddler play alone while my husband picks up the house and starts cleaning the kitchen to make dinner. This is a typical evening here. Ladies, if he wanted to he would.

Iron (only the necessary clothes not ALL ).
My gran irons EVERYTHING. Like, she even irons their bedsheets... I wonder if that's a generational thing.
I dont iron anything at all lol. If it needs to be ironed, I lay it flat, rub the wrinkles out and hang it 🤣 I only have a couple of things that need to be ironed though, so it's not worth me buying one lol

I HATE ironing! I only do it if I absolutely have to. Luckily my job doesn't require fancy clothing, and I don't go to many formal events. If I can mist an item with water and throw it in the dryer to get the wrinkles out, I will.

But don’t they lose their minds when we say “if a man can’t provide, he’s not worth your time.”
Like always, males can dish out traditional gender expectations but they can’t stand when you expect the same from them. These are also the types of men that expect you to go 50/50 on all bills 😂

Insane how they see women being provided for financially by a man as her using him for his money, but they don't see using a woman for domestic duties as using her for her labor.

Hahahaa yes i already do it. I found a new job 2 months ago and I'm the only woman there. The thing about my job is everyone there is young (18-25), even two bosses are 22 and 24, so naturally all of these guys started showing interest in me.
We bring our food from home or buy it (i usually buy my food as i hate cooking and we work 10-11 hours daily i simply would not have time). Worth noting that all guys brought food from home cooked by their mothers and grandmothers.
So many guys have the audacity to regularly ask me if I even can cook since i don't bring food from home. I said i actually bring food from home sometimes.
Then they ask if I cook this food myself 🙄. I already know what they are alluding to, so i retaliate with: 'Do YOU cook your food yourselves?' like bitch we all work same hours we all don't have time to cook it's normal for all of us bring food cooked by somebody else or buy it i don't blame them for not cooking.
Guys make surprised eyes and say mother cooked for them. I say 'same'. Then they ask if why i don't cook myself. I say i can't and i hate to do it.
They all say one of the two following things:
1) Well not a problem you ll learn when you marry
2) What??? Why don't you cook how are you going to feed your husband??????
I proceed to say i don't and won't cook, i have no desire too, and i actually don't want to marry at all and have kids too and i won't be someone bang maid (i said this at once and will keep saying to every guy i meet).
I hate it so much. Why can't I simply exist. If they keep pestering me I'll ask the boss to cut me 2-3 hours so i had time to cook for myself while all other guys work full time. That would be eQuAlItY
Also i think of starting to ask these guys following questions:
1) how many money do you make? How??? Less than $100k???? What?? How are you going to feed your wife???
2) Have you served in the military? Wait you didn't???? Every man has to serve!!!
3) Do you buy iPhones to your girlfriends? And which ones? Wait you don't??!! How it's not your responsibility?? It is!!!! Real man gotta make expensive gifts!!!!0000

Also - what is the general feeling about women not having the law on their side re: domestic violence.
How do women protect themselves from abusive men? Are there support networks for women who need to flee abusive environments?
Sorry to ask these questions. But I fear for our Russian sisters and I can't believe that male violence is not recognised by law.

I can’t believe they are hounding you about this nonsense in this day and age.
Just realize they must have nothing going on in their pedestrian little lives. A woman who does the same work as they do must seem as exotic to them as if you were a beautiful unicorn farting rainbows all over the place. Try not to let them get to you.
Advice from a woman who worked her entire career with men. 😐

I’m 28, I have a friend who is 55. She came to my house crying the other day, saying that she’s sick of her husband not cooking or cleaning. She says she can’t even get her hip surgery because she knows that he won’t take care of her after the surgery, even though she takes care of him after all of his health problems. I told her to leave him!!! My mom was visiting (60 y/o) and telling her to try to work it out with him. My mom is a wonderful woman but she is so stuck in her pickme ways. I kept saying no, leave him!!! She said she can’t because she put him on the deed (she paid for her house on her own, why did she put him on the deed????? I asked her and she said because she loves him and it was the right thing to do????) then her and my mom started talking and I just couldn’t take it anymore. I told them they were both acting crazy and to never let a man push you around like this. It was driving me insane and making me so sad for them to hear the type of shit they put up with. I’m so lucky I found FDS at such a young age, I don’t wanna put up with the same shit that our mothers put up with

Growing up I saw my mom taking care of the kids and home while also working. I saw my dad work, come home lounge until dinner, he'd have his special seating at the head of the table and then he'd leave to be with his friends after. My mom catered to him. I hated seeing that, hated seeing her do everything while he did nothing. I promised myself I would never ever marry because I did not want to be a maid in my marriage. Thankfully my mom divorced him when I was 17. I didn't have internet to tell me how awful men were, I grew up with it and told myself I would not allow that for myself. I do wonder though the women who get stuck with trash , if they grew up the same seeing their own mothers be treated as a maid or if they had a good dad.

Women had very few opportunities to make decent money in those days. My mom worked as a bookkeeper at a grocery store. She worked double shifts constantly to keep everything afloat. This was in the late 1960s. There were no welfare programs for women with children like there are today.
In the mean time, my Dad bought a fucking house.

I know this is stupid, but can someone give me some basics in cleaning? My dad is the one that taught me how, and it basically sums up to “spray windex on it and scrub it with a paper towel, and use Ajax in the shower.” I know there’s more to cleaning than this but when I look things up online it looks so confusing. Don't be embarrassed! My own parents taught me nothing, and I figured it out. Luckily, it's not hard. You just have to be motivated to learn...which makes it all the more embarrassing that so many people choose not to, but that's another story.
There are lots of good cleaning how-to YouTube channels, which you can find by searching "how to clean house" or similar.

I think there’s cheaper ways to go about it (also some products aren’t good for animals but I don’t have any) but I was taught to use a swiffer if you have hardwood floors. They have a dry version that cleans up the dust and there’s also a wet version that makes the floor look more polished and is supposed to clean it. For carpet use a vacuum and there’s also a washing version of a vacuum I honestly don’t know the name but it basically washes out your carpet and gets any bad smells out.
Always clean top to bottom. I feel like it’s such a simple thing but I didn’t know this and would re allocate dust to places I had already cleaned lol
I use Clorox wipes for countertops, always wipes everything down bc the smallest of crumbs can attract sugar ants depending on where you live.
Microwaves and fridges often get overlooked and can make your kitchen look gross if someone peers inside and sees food crumbs everywhere.
For bathroom there’s various different bathroom cleaners to clean the floors. I usually spray the cleaner on the toilet, sink, and bathtub and just let it sit for a few minutes. Might wanna open a window bc the chemicals are kind of harsh. Then I scrub and wash away.
For any wood cabinets I use pledge, which makes the wood shiny and smell nice.
Always remove the lint from the dryer as it can start I fire I believe. I never let my dryer going when I leave the house as a just in case. My dryer recently broke and I smelt a weird almost burning like smell coming from it when I realized it wasn’t working anymore.
These are just a few things off the top of my head (:

There are heaps of cleaning infographics
If you're just living in a dorm with a bed/desk there's 5 things to maintain.
Trash
Objects
Dust
Floor
Laundry (including towels, bed sheets).
If it's safe to leave your laundry running for an hour, use the time to clean. If you have to sit with it, do some study.
Set aside an hour on a Saturday (because you won't be hungover, right?:) to collect all the trash and take it out. Tidy up all the objects. Dust all the surfaces with a wet cloth. Vacuum or sweep the floor, line up your shoes.
Good luck at college!

You’re not kidding. A post on the front page of Reddit asked doctors to share the most unusual/rare disease that they’ve encountered.
Several answers were scurvy that was caused by men eating garbage, because they wouldn’t cook for themselves after their wives died.
A guy ate cookies. Just cookies. Every meal. Every day.
Listen, I don’t like cooking. When I was a bit younger, I was so intolerant of cooking that sometimes I would just have sleep for dinner. Despite my strong feelings, I have never reverted to a feral toddler who can’t figure out how food or nutrition works.
I just warmed up a sweet potato while munching on some pomegranate seeds. Earlier, I had some hummus, avocado, and pita chips. Yesterday, I had baked salmon and squash, then watermelon for dessert.
It hardly qualifies as “cooking” if all I did was put food into a box and turned on the heat.
Point being that if men really wanted to figure it out, then they would. Idc if they don’t figure it out. Get scurvy. Die mad. I’ll be over here eating apples with peanut butter like a human.
Edit: now I see that someone made a post about this on FDS! Lol!

And yes, I work in a grocery store. I see what single men buy, and it isn’t pretty. Some guys surprise me tho, and have a cart full of healthy stuff, and it shows! Clear eyes, nice skin, healthy hair, something they all worry bout so much, but won’t do anything about.
[–]berryberrykicksFDS Apprentice 8 points9 points10 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Wow! I hadn’t thought about that, but it makes sense that you have a front row to witnessing the effects of food choices.
I’ve also never understood how people can eat the same thing and nothing else. My last boyfriend did all the cooking, but he only made about 10 recipes. And it had a distinct lack of fresh vegetables.
I finally told him that I needed to eat something fresh and crunchy before I lost my mind. To his credit, he accommodated my request. I got asparagus and green beans and probably other things but I can’t recall right now.
I go through phases where I want to eat fresh berries and oatmeal for breakfast every day. But that only lasts a couple of weeks. Then it’s scrambled eggs with avocado, havarti, tomato slices, and hot sauce.
He had eaten the same thing for breakfast and lunch for 5 or 6 years by the time I met him. I just... how?
[–]Wiggy_BopFDS Newbie 8 points9 points10 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I’m kinda like that, too. If I make something that turns out spectacular, I can eat it all week. I grew up poor, and have been poor as an adult. Maybe that has something to do with it. <shrug>

Lol! I go back and forth. It’s harder to do in an office setting.
I, like so many, am a fan of ordering in too. Especially sushi, Indian cuisine, or Mediterranean cuisine. There’s a great Nepalese restaurant nearby too. And one that fuses Latin American and Asian foods; it’s incredible.
I don’t understand picky eaters. It’s actually a big turn off for me. How could someone turn down Bulgogi? Or a samosa?
Edit: I got distracted thinking about food lol! The point I had been trying to make was that my “ordering in” days tended to be the days that I didn’t graze.

I was a kid in the 60s. I believe we got our first McDs when I was in the third grade. I completely remember going there and getting my sensible hamburger along with a sensible sized drink and small fries. There were cars lined up all the way to the edge of town. We got our second when the mall was completed. The Big Mac was the big deal by that time. Time moved a lot slower back then.

I often yearn for simplicity. I’m going to do what I can to give myself that peace at home; I think minimalism is the answer.
I was just thinking about this though. “This” being living in the 60s or 70s. I can’t stand to think about all the smoking.
I was graduating high school by the time my little town was voting on the official ban for smoking cigarettes inside bars/restaurants. I still remember one particular restaurant in town that had a smoking and nonsmoking section. My friends and I went there before a dance. I refused to eat anything, because of the heavy cigarette smoke hanging in the air.

In my experience, any time I leave a man, he reverts back to eating mostly fast food or simple food that a tween could make like ramen, frozen dinners, and hot dogs. The housekeeping becomes pretty much non-existent, except when they absolutely have no choice, like needing laundry or a clean dish.

Decades ago, when my brothers were still very young, mom left dad home with the boys for the week while she worked out of town. When she got back, they had tears & were so happy to see her. Not because they missed her, but because now they'll be eating something other than bread & milk. The man fed his children nothing but bread & milk for days in a row. I was embarrassed for him.

When my parents got divorced my dad lives off microwave dinners because he cannot cook, at all. He quickly got married to a 50s housewife who does all of that for him. He's a sweet guy, super old. Was in the military and then in the church. He is a direct byproduct of the patriarchy so I can't completely hate him. But when I see men who are my age, who can't cook, I just cringe.

If I see someone hasn't eaten and I'm about to cook food, it doesn't matter who it is, I'll offer them some. But a LVM who can't cook will take advantage of that. I'm done doing that. I would rather my partner and I take turns, or do it together, or not at all. I've found (in my past relationships and other people's relationships) that food/cooking issues can drive a huge wedge in between a couple. It gets old really fast. And if he can't cook, at the very least he should be ordering me food. A guy I humor sometimes has ordered me food without my asking, to my liking. It makes it easier with apps remembering past orders, but the gesture is nice. Not having to think about or pay for food once in a while is a nice treat.
[–]Reporter_ComplexFDS Newbie 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I agree. Cooking/cleaning is about the only thing I am willing to compromise on, within reason, of course.
There has to be an equal split, either of us cook, the other cleans the kitchen. Or both cook and both clean the kitchen. However, if there is a certain meal that either want, they cook it.
Like my mum says - "it's not a dine in restaurant where you place an order, you get what you're given or make your own" - some times we all eat together whatever she cooks, but most of the time my parents eat the same, dad cleans up after, and I make and clean my own lol

Find the server to pay my own share of the check with cash, and write "I don't cook, I don't clean. I buy my own diamond rings, Misogynist. Peace out, Feminist."
That's why you have a flip phone for temporary men on dates/acquaintances. You can catch the red flags within 3 or 6 months/1 year a lot easier. Avoid texting/phone conversation behind a device. Get to know them in a group setting before dating. It's easier to catch the red flags unlike online dating.

another weird scrote flex I don't get - when middle aged men pride themselves on their perverted lust on 'barely legal teens'
that's not the flex (whatever the fuck it is, that you can still get hard??) you think it is. just like a fully grown adult man being very proud of not being able to do basic life things (cook and clean).. it's embarrassing and no one wants you

Threw up in my mouth at the fact he said 'girl' in the same sentence as her not knowing how to cook for two reasons. 1.) He probably is referring to someone underaged. 2.) He's a s*xist pos

I'm a good cook but I'm an amazing baker, so I do enjoy cooking for others and spoiling them w something tasty, but I'll be damned if I cook for someone that expects me to cook just bc I'm a woman.
