I am eternally grateful for this amazing wonderful subreddit. I came here because I heard something about it being "toxic", and all I found was perspective that changed my life for the better and gave me the strength I need. I have never felt more empowered, and I am so glad I found this at my young age. I feel like I have gained thousands of older sisters who I can look to for guidance.

I found this subreddit because someone said it was toxic. I checked out FDS, found out it was everything I secretly believed but had nowhere to express, and I never looked back.

I see women posting in other parts of Reddit, dutifully kowtowing to males, being so careful with their words and still getting insulted and mansplained to. I feel so bad for them and wish they’d come here.

This is how I feel when I read our comment section versus just about every other sub. Even a sub with cute cat pictures devolves into perverted abusive trash with these men on here.

Here’s a great example: yesterday I replied to someone with an innocuous French correction on here, just for conversation? Because I’m French? Because I like it when people tell me I’m using an idiom wrong?

Anyway I’ve posted stuff like that before on other parts of Reddit and most of the time I get ignored or downvoted. Here I actually got upvotes. The ladies in here are communicating and exchanging about all sorts of things with a sense of profound shared empathy. It’s a very nice feeling.

I feel so safe and heard here. I’ve never met anyone else (aside from my parents, thankfully) who loathes pornography and the normalization of violent sex as much as I do. I always thought it was about intimacy, not dominance and competition. Good to know I was right. And I appreciate greatly how much you amazing ladies call men out on their bullshit. I’m so glad I’ve found this place. Finally somewhere I can express what I truly believe after so much pain, I thought everyone else was seeing life differently than me. How could you normalize being used, disrespected and treated like shit? FDS is life changing. I love all the women here and the discussions we have, you are so amazing.
