I've said before I think many of them were always bad but the internet and technology has both made them worse/corrupted more of them and made it easier for them to act out and also exposed the true nature of most men to us. Some things are definitely directly caused by porn though, like most men didn't ask for anal like many do now, I'd never had a guy ask me to rim him years ago and men didn't used to be as picky and easily bored by women sexually and their looks to the extent they are now. Don't get me wrong people always had affairs and craved variety but porn and hook up culture definitely makes people crave it more and to get bored of their partners much sooner.

Edit it also encourages people to objectify and dehumanise others and see them as something to be used and disposed of, I believe porn both encourages and reveals men's disrespect and even hatred of women.

Also I read an article by a man who said that it's a myth that porn reduces rape and sexual assault as many men claim. I'm sure he said countries without or less access to porn were often poorer countries that also had less laws/protection for women. Also in western societies women are brainwashed into sexualising themselves and allowing themselves to be exploited by men and their sexual desires under the guise of empowerment and are often pressured and coerced to behave like and compete with porn stars and fulfill men's fantasies and desires. This guy who wrote the article basically said if there were suddenly no laws to protect women against rape etc, but porn was still available as it is today, some would be raping and sexually assaulting women till their hearts content and the porn wouldn't stop it, it would fuel it. Porn doesn't prevent sexual violence, porn is sexual violence and if men say they would rape us if they didn't have porn, then that tells you the true nature of men. A number of reports have pointed out that the manosphere is radicalising young boys more and more nowadays, plus porn is viewed at even younger ages. While women may have more rights now, I would say misogyny is on the rise in young people.

Anthropologists believe that early humans in paleolithic times were quite egalitarian, despite their division of labor (men hunting, women foraging). Archaeological ruins are scarce, there is no recorded history etc, but based on things like burials-- people believe that early communal humans survived through egalitarian cooperation. I guess it makes sense-- what's the point bullying and oppressing women, just for shits and giggles, when every single person in the tribe was necessary for survival? When life expectancy was so low, when life was so dangerous, when childbirth was so dangerous.

But yes, men have always been bad since recorded history. Men basically fought to control land and resources, women did not have birth control, and so what is stopping another guy from fucking his neighbor's wife or stealing his goat? Men created laws, rules, governments etc and almost always made women lesser than, into some kind of property, because they needed to create new people, nurture and educate those people. So women did that work in addition to toiling in fields or whatever. Rulers, kings, lords, emperors etc needed men, women and children to toil in the fields, men to build armies with, people to make into slaves. Human life was just not very valuable, not even a man's life either.

Things just really started to change in the 2nd half of the 20th century, with birth control. Women couldn't even open their own bank accounts as recently as the 70s. Social media, tech, etc is just changing things at a very rapid speed now. I think overt misogyny is increasing because men can no longer systematically oppress women anymore, because labor is different now. Social media and porn also fucks with people's minds-- we have all of this crazy tech, but we're still primitive humans. The most valued workers now aren't the ones that are the strongest, but those with the best organizational, interpersonal skills, and so on. So women can do all sorts of jobs now, we have more legal and physical power/rights than ever before. Men are competing directly with women now, for jobs/survival.

So yeah men were always bad, but not because they were so bored and idle that they had nothing to do but bully women. Oppressing women was systematic for much of history, but men were busy dying in wars or being sold in slave markets, or toiling in fields (with their wives) to have any time or energy to be entitled delusional crybabies. It was mostly powerful men (like kings) just controlling the 99.9%. The internet and 21st century labor has changed things, men are more bored than ever before, they basically have nothing to do, and their idleness causes social destruction.

I think we don’t know the extent of how bad it really was before, so it seems so much worse now by comparison. There was just an article about a marriage advice book written in the early 1900s. That book read like a nightmare. You see, it was just acknowledged the marital rape was sex and sex was marital rape. There was no concept of mutual pleasure or gentleness. Women of all classes went into marriage knowing this was all they had to look forward to, but they still had to marry to survive. In the book actually advised them to be nicer to their husbands during the day and keep an immaculate house so maybe he wouldn’t be so rough. But regardless, “a good marriage” depended on them overlooking his roughness. And don’t forget many of the marriages at that time were what we’d think of as arranged. Fathers pretty much selling their daughters off to older men with a little money. No birth control, no right to refuse. Anesthesia had barely been invented. Dying in childbirth was very common. It was a barbaric world and that was barely a century ago. Things are bad now, sure. But we should not ever get it twisted. We’re blessed to live in this era.

Yes they have always been this bad. Patriarchy was made to ensure all men, even horrible abusive ones with terrible genetics, were able to secure their genetic future. All they had to do was be a male with a job and some poor woman would be forced to marry them eventually. Those GoLd DiGgErS! Emancipating women has taken that security net away from them.

Now men have to do the work themselves in securing a woman, and they hate it. That’s why you see countless “””why don’t women give men compliments, why don’t women approach men, why don’t women want to pay half on dates? Where’s all the progressive emancipated women?””” Some women would rather die alone than fuck them now that we have the legal rights to work for our own money and that pisses them off.

Another poster, @DrildoBagurren said it well, the more equal women become to men the worse they will get. It’s going to get harder for most men to get a partner because women can now choose who they want to be with, and if they don’t find one suitable they can choose comfortable independence and solitude. This makes them extremely resentful when they aren’t picked and they die alone. The Red Pill, PUA, Manosphere, Porn, and incel culture has radicalized a lot of men into feeling entitled to women and has completely devalued sex and a woman’s body. It has normalized rape and pedophilia.

The men of today are upset that they do not benefit from the exploitation and oppression of women at the level that generations of men before them had. They think it’s not fair and hate feminism for it. So the only way to get what they feel they are entitled to use manipulation, lies, money, power, or force, which has been a man’s dating strategy since the dawn of human existence.

The depravity during sex nowadays is unbelievable. The disrespect during dates and conversations with women is surreal. I can’t imagine anyone in prior generations being so depraved and disrespectful as men these days that wasn’t afterwards completely cast out by decent society. In this way men of today are much worse. Society has accepted the degenerate man as average and normal and has thrown women’s comfort and safety aside, of course because that’s how patriarchy keeps thriving, it evolves into something new. These shitty low effort dates and the disrespect you get from them is because of the resentment they feel towards women as a whole for our emancipation. When they treat us this way, it’s their way of regaining power over you because they feel entitled to what prior generations of men had. They feel entitled to women as their slaves. They fucking hate women. And the more freedom and equality we get the more they will escalate.

I personally think men in general have always been bad it's just changed the manners how they are bad.

My mother believes the men her age (60s) will always cheat because it's a hit on their macho ego to turn down a woman who is interested on them. Quick side note, we aren't american. However, she only "tolerates" physical cheating aka never the same woman. This also is true about my father. But my father has some good qualities. He does everything around the house, even domestic work. He is a good provider. If something needs fixing, he will fix it. Thankfully they aren't together anymore though. My mother is now single and happily so, by choice.

I think this idea that turning down a woman will make them ~gay isn't as rampant anymore for my generation (20s). In other words, I don't think cheating is seen as the norm as much. But we have a whole new bunch of problems I'm sure all of you know. I don't think it's gotten better or worse, just different.

I think it have always been bad or even worse. It is still a case in some countries but in past it was acceptable for old men to marry kids.

Women now have more rights as well. It isn't perfect but it feels like we are sort of moving forward.

As time goes by, we encounter new problems, like radicalisation of men into red pill.

I think that now the situation may look worse because we know exactly what men think of us (you just need to read some posts on male subreddits), and we don't have to pretend that they're not so bad because we can be independent and don't have to put up with their shit.

I was thinking about this last night. I've never used OLD. But I was thinking about how it seems like guys used to being their A game more for first meetings and dates and stuff.

I wonder if the amount of ACCESS they have to us has degraded the amount of effort they are willing to put in. If they fuck it up one time they can still message us and try again. If they really fuck it up at least they can still stalk us on social media and beat off to our pictures. They have, in their minds, infinite chances to get our attention. Why put any effort into any individual attempt? This is why the block and delete and having your socials locked down is important.

i think it's always been bad. for example, my grandpa (whom i loved dearly, he was my childhood hero) took pride in always having up to five women at the same time. he only married my grandma because she just so happened to be the one getting pregnant and they were forced to have a wedding.

i'm 100% sure he's not an exception to a rule or anything.

Yes they have. Except back "then" the misogyny and sexism was institutionalized on a legal, religious and social scale.

For example, when a woman married, she lost all her rights to own property because once married, the parties merged into one being.....that is the HUSBAND.

Women were categorically excluded via institutionalized legal and social means to participate in the economy. As can example, banks would routinely notify husbands if their wife was opening a checking account. Not hiring a woman because she was a woman was not illegal.

Today, all the legally enforced sexism and oppression against women is MOSTLY gone in Western countries. but as we can see from Internet and social media, scrotes still hate women and long for the days when they could beat them into submission.

Misogyny today no longer has much legal effect, but socially is still exists especially in interpersonal relationships. This is where the younger generation is trailblazing: 20 years ago, the concepts of emotional labor and mental load was non existent. Porn was OK cause it's better than him cheating. We Just ACCEPTED it as part of being married to a man.

The new frontier is blasting a light on what a man and woman do in their bedroom and in the kitchen. It's about fucking time.

I grew up reading books from the 1800s and early 1900s. As depicted there, plenty of men were terrible, but there were more HVM ones and more men who had to pretend to be HVM their whole lives due to societal pressure. I used to read Louis L'Amour books wherein young mean dudes would challenge the hero, trying to get clout, and he'd beat up or shoot the dreadful young guys. As a kid I thought he was just inventing these incredibly stupid and mean young men, but as I got older I realized with horror that they were real, and EVERYWHERE. The difference is that in Wild West days men knew how rare women were, and how much of a difference they made to men's lives, and so most men, while extremely misogynistic, would attack any guy they saw harassing or disrespecting a woman.

For most of history, women and their willingness to stay up at night and nurse you was the difference between life and death both in childhood and at various points in adulthood. Men also had to go to war or in other ways be isolated away from women for long periods more often, so they appreciated us more. There was still the same potential and I have no doubt they would be just as terrible if dumped into modern life, but in a way that's good(?) - when the trash cloud in space eventually destroys all the satellites and internet is harder to access, when climate change reduces us to famine and struggle again, men won't have much access to porn and will have to spend most of their time doing physical labor again. Maybe they'll be more pleasant while humanity struggles to survive.

Every step forward men have to take us down a peg or two. Look at how women, for a long time, have been graduating from college at much higher numbers than men. This has been going on for at least a decade. Where are the female CEO's? Managers? Directors?

Even though women are increasingly more educated than men, we still don't hold positions of power that our education would indicate we should have. We still have a wage gap.

If more women are more educated than men, why do they still have the best positions?

There were obviously always bad men and LVM but I feel like back then it was easier to find some good/more innocent guys than it is now. Maybe not though but I feel how popular abusive porn has become has made them a lot worse and made the chances of finding someone decrease.

Men have always been misogynists. The internet makes it easier for people to spread their opinions which include the shittiest ones. Men are the loudest bullies, while women's voices are always silenced before they can reach far. Women and those who care about women are at a huge disadvantage nowadays, as the social media is mostly controlled by men.

Men are encouraged to become bigger assholes since their women-hating views can easily go popular and receive millions of likes. Young kids are familiar with all the insulting languages against women/feminists, and they are easily brainwashed by the misogynistic internet trending from the games, videos, porns, and forums.

On top of that, the worst misogynists are often bloody breeders who have a passion of passing down inferior genes. I honestly have no faith in the humanity's future.

I think it depends, I think certain specific things get better and worse. My grandfather's generation was good at housework, for example. But probably bad at other things
