How do I politely avoid a kiss on the second date if he tries to make a move?

If he leans in you can deflect with a hug or turn your cheek to him instead. It he asks just tell him you're not comfortable because you don't know each other. Think of this as an opportunity to see how he handles rejection and being told no where physical boundaries are concerned, either verbally or with body language.

I would honestly be creeped out if some random man I went on a first date with that I didn't even know tried to kiss me at the end of the date.

Just turn away/distance yourself from him when he tries to get close. He should be able to get the idea. If he still attempts to kiss you, he’s violating boundaries

I find kissing on the second date super uncomfortable as well. You’re basically still strangers and it’s perfectly normal to not want to kiss a stranger. Don’t feel like you owe him anything. And it’s totally not awkward to just back off. If he makes a big deal out of it, then HE’s the one making things awkward

I'm so glad other people feel weirded out by kissing a stranger. To me even 3 or 4 dates in, this person is still a total stranger and I have zero interest in kissing a stranger. I've always found it weird that most people seem to think this is normal. I made a comment on this over at r/datingoverthirty and got downvoted to hell (I also unsubbed from that sub because it was so full of pickmes 🙄).

Here’s an idea: Be. Honest.

Tell him during the second date that you got the vibe that he wanted to kiss you on the first date, that, although, you’ve enjoy his company and/or like him, you are just not ready for that kiss yet.

This is a good way to find out if he respects you and your boundaries.
If he doesn’t, neither of you are wasting anymore of each other’s time.

Just say “No” and that you “don’t feel comfortable with that”. It shouldn’t be awkward at all. He should respect your boundaries and your feelings. If he gives you a hard time/makes you feel awkward then drop him. He obviously doesn’t respect you enough to respect your boundaries.

Also with Covid-19 and social distancing you don’t want to just kiss anyone. This is a second in-person date. At this point he’s basically a stranger and you don’t really know him. Don’t expose yourself to Covid-19, STD, STI, or any other viral or bacterial infection for that matter for a guy. Your health and well-being are more important. You and your health are a priority ❤️
