I like pet names that grow organically out of inside jokes or are unique

I think women should be mindful if a guy only calls you baby and the like but he’s never saying your real name

I don’t mind pet names so much, though I’ve never been one to use them myself, but I hate “baby”. I don’t really know why, babe doesn’t even really strike me the same way.

Babe is fine but for the most part no! I’m darkskin and men seem to think it’s Ok to call me “chocolate” names. Example: “chocolate bunny”! No, no, no!

Sometimes I like to hear cutesy names in bed, cause it kinda turns me on, but otherwise I prefer to hear my name because it's personal. People usually respond more strongly emotionally to hearing their own name.

I make new names for everyone I care about. And all the animals in my life. For me, names are constantly evolving.

I fucking hate being call any generic pet name, especially by someone I’ve never met. I feel like that is the kind of thing that has to be earned.

I don’t mind them here and there but I hate it when a guy I’m with never calls me by my name. My name is a huge part of my identity and him saying it is in a sense acknowledging me for who I am.

A guy I had a significant love with a few years ago ONLY called me “baby” and I fucking hated it. Call me by my name, thanks.

Edit; I realized a few years after this relationship that he never truly wanted me, he just wanted someone. This is probably why he never used my name. He never actually loved me for me.

I think it's sweet after you're exclusive. If it's early on, it's a red flag because they don't want to mess up names. I have guy friends who would say 'baby' because they had many girls and they didn't want to piss them off by getting the name wrong. These guys have grown up since.

I also worked with this CEO as part of a very small company. He'd call everyone 'sweetheart', and people thought he was sooo sweet. He told me once: 'I don't remember most of my employees, so I just call them sweetheart'.

Be wary of these terms if they come too soon. Now, if you're exclusive and it just comes rolling off of your tongue of their tongue, I think that's sweet.

They're cute when they're unique/tailored to you. I remember I used to cringe when my ex's would call me certain names cause they were so generic. The guy I'm seeing now has the cutest pet name for me and it came from an inside joke and I love it cause it's specifically for me.

i like it when they stem from an inside joke/characteristic over the grab bag of pet names (although secretly baby girl makes my heart thaw a bit 🥺). i've always had a pet name or term of endearment for my partners.

My bf calls me "amor" (love), "corazón" (my heart/sweetheart) and "babe". Some people don't like "babe" but I find it hot coming from him.

I also had a guy called me 'turkey'. I don't know why. I even asked him, he said he liked it. I asked him to use a different word and he didn't. He couldn't even accommodate 1 simply ask. I hate the word 'turkey' now.

IMO, Let him take the lead in pet names, don’t ever do it first. Lean back and let him show his cards.

Make sure you like it, and that’s it’s not too soon. Then you can reciprocate.

Don’t call him baby, either. I was told that strippers call all guys that, and you don’t want that association.

I don’t like sugar or babe. I like baby, boo, and maybe honey but not excessively.
