It just doesn’t make sense to me. Like ok let’s say that you are doing bdsm or some other type of rough sex play as a personal coping mechanism. Fine.

But what about your partner? Like this is a two way street. What is his excuse? Is his coping mechanism inflicting abuse on women? Are you just not enabling violent perpetrators to abuse vulnerable victims under the guise of them “”helping”” you? I just don’t understand the logic here.

There is just something incredible disturbing knowing that men are intentionally seeking out women who are desperate for therapeutic release and taking advantage of that for their own self gratification. There’s a certain irony of this “consensual rape play” feeling extremely rape-y.

Agree wholeheartedly, ask any therapist I think they would tell you the same. A lot of rape victims start hooking up with random people in order to feel like they are regaining power over their own sexuality. That is a coping mechanism and it's self destructive. I think that people are molding their sexuality around the abuse they have received in the past in hopes that normalizing it will make them feel less violated. And they are willingly letting other partners abuse them to revive their trauma but in a situation where they feel more in control. It's a self destructive coping mechanism, like putting a bandaid on a broken bone.
