“Feminism hinges on freedom of choice” says the “feminist” who has never read any feminist theory. Feminism is about liberation from the patriarchy. Choice feminism is just a lazy way for people to claim they’re feminists without actually examining their own beliefs and practices. If someone was serious about their feminism, they would understand how and why it’s not compatible with BDSM.

Also, it's funny how being beaten up for the sexual pleasure of men can be a feminist choice. But when women choose to only date men who show effort (i.e paying for dates, waiting before initiating sex, generally treats them well), that's not feminist. We are just greedy gold diggers. For a movement that claims to be inclusive, liberal feminism is very quick to exclude women who choose not to pander to men.

This article reeked of privelage to me. Most of us face misogyny in our day-to-day lives, and we don't need to put on an act behind closed doors. It's privelage to be able to comfortably incorporate misogyny into your sex life since you're not facing it in the office or the classroom or your church...
