A little backstory:

My gram had a 40 year long marriage to an abusive, alcoholic man. He died when I was 15 and I have watched her bloom.

Today she told me this story (from her perspective):

“(Pre-pandemic) I was in the mall with my sister when we stopped by a jewelry store. I lingered by the engagement rings enjoying the glimmer when (sister) comes up behind me.

“She asked me if I’d ever consider marriage again. I thought for a moment. I pointed at the most expensive ring in the case. I told her if he can afford to give me that and a house as well, I’d consider it.

“(Sister) said I wasn’t asking for much (sarcastic) and I said I’m not looking at all”

A moment but a huge moment for her. I am so proud.
