I was turned onto marriage helper by my ex-husband’s parents when they found out he was cheating on me. I was in my pick me days and wanted to do everything in the world to get him to stay and make our marriage work. (I feel sick thinking about this now, but at least I’ve seriously leveled up since then). Anyway, my former in laws began telling me things like “people only cheat if there’s something they’re missing in the relationship” and recommended this site for help. My swamp creature ex who cheated on me multiple times, lied, didn’t work, and didn’t do anything by around the house agreed to talk with a Marriage Helper counselor so that his mommy and daddy wouldn’t be mad at him. I was so depressed and desperate at the time that I started to believe in this bull. If you come across anyone in this situation and this site is recommended-run. It places the blame on the cheated on spouse (which is almost my always the woman) and encourages women not to push their cheating husbands away by being upset at their affairs. Puke.

Reading the about page tells you all you need to know really. The founder got divorced, then got back together with his ex-wife 3 years later. The business has 0 reviews on BBB besides being accredited for 11 years. I checked the FAQs and they explicitly say the workshops are based on Christian principles, and their answer for “My spouse had an affair and is still in love with the other person. Is this workshop for me?” is somehow a “YES!”... What the actual fuck?

Oh and the best part is “All course purchases are final and non-refundable.” No surprise there. 😂

These kinds of Christians will say "Jesus said you can get divorced if there is adultery!" only if the wife was the cheater. If it was the husband who cheated, that was the wife's fault and she needs to get right with God and also forgive her husband and also be sexier/a better wife.

Religion has its uses, but the modern evangelical culture is an absolute trash heap.

Wow! Worst advice ever. You could literally have a video of a man cheating and he’d deny it was him in the video.

You don’t need CSI-level evidence to prove a man is cheating or leave him for cheating.

If you have a suspicion of cheating, he’s likely cheating. Men accuse women of cheating all the time as a power play move, to get her on the defensive to deflect from their behaviour but men don’t understand that women don’t do that.

What’s with this “no snooping” business too? Worst advice ever because that’s often the only way to get proof. He’s basically saying “you need proof but don’t you dare look for it, it has to land in your lap.”

The rest of his advice amounts to “be nice, ladies.”

It's been a while since I've been there (it was before I found FDS) but Chump Lady was my favorite when I was cheated on. None of that "well, actually, it's your fault" shit.
