Women have always been the sexual selectors and the drivers of evolution

[–]Number175OnEarlsListFDS Newbie 28 points29 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

This makes sense as to why you hear all of these stories of couples trying so hard, sometimes years and years of trying and medical treatments, who the wife strays and is instantly pregnant.

Our eggs are scroteproof! So should we be!!

[–]shelballamaFDS Newbie 143 points144 points  (9 children) | Copy Link

And yet so many women get impregnated by scrotes. I need the eggs to up their game a bit

Maybe a bit "woo" on my part, but I had an acquaintance who was TTC with a NVM for over 4 years. Unexplained infertility. She caught him cheating, moved on, leveled up and got with an amazing man and got pregnant within two cycles. So on some level I do believe it lol

Mysterious infertility between Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. She moved on and got pregnant, he got Katie pregnant. Sperm+egg incompatibility is real.

Happened to me too. Were together nine years, no pill, no condoms. Never had a pregnancy scare. My womb must have picked up on the alcohol/drugs. 🤢

Yep. This hapoened with a couple I know. The couple was young but were unable to conceive. They divorced and remarried, and at an older age, both went on to have many children. The woman even had her 4th child when she was pushing mid-40s!

I think it's more the fact eggs try to chose the best thing they have to work with, it's the only answer that makes sense.

Tbh theres not much the egg can do when an lvms load is pure low quality sperm. She chooses the best she can from the bunch I suppose.

There should’ve been an evolutionary mechanism by which the egg can choose to reject all sperm if need be.

Female ducks can do that.

Don't I wish 😂

I recently learned about the actual process of impregnation and it is so different from what we were taught in school!
I recommend this great podcast on spotify - Short Wave : Is the sperm race a fairy tale?
Very informative.

Thank you oh learned one, all hail a science podcast hosted by two women!

[–]KloudyG 17 points18 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

This is a good recommendation, but it’s also something you have to pay for and I think that should be mentioned for anyone who wants access to the podcast.

I'm baffled by the idea that they thought partners might automatically do better, lol. Like a woman's entire reproductive system is just going to go, "Ah yes. This is Greg, who takes me to Olive Garden every Tuesday night. He is the Chosen One."

Luckily, I will never subject my eggs to such madness.🏃🏻‍♀️🚴🏻‍♀️🏊🏻‍♀️...

[–]TrixieFriganzaFDS Newbie 43 points44 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

That's so interesting and cool, hope my eggs shut the door for scrotes or any crusty, smelly, testerical sperm. Genes from psychopaths and narcissists have nothing to do with my eggs (hopefully I'm smart enough before the poor eggs have to protect themselves).

Sounds like FDS dating.

[–]Phoesilvle 37 points38 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Really interesting, thank you for sharing!

Another cool feature of eggs is, that they won't choose the quickest sperm but chooses one out of the quickest group of sperm. Sperm and egg exchange information via chemotaxis (a bit like smelling at each other) and the egg allows one sperm to permeate it's membrane and actively blocks the attempts of other sperm to pass through.

We're picky. (shrug). Deal with it or die mad.

[–]MadameDestructionFDS Newbie 10 points11 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

The average number of sperm per ejaculation is about 182 million so 181.999.999 sure do die mad :)

[–]Snoo-96047 12 points13 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Perhaps genetically, but not morally. God, I'm so sick of all the lowlife scumbags in the world!

[–]Equal-Ear2312FDS Apprentice 7 points8 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

in a nutshell, listen to your eggs. it makes sense for them to be choosy.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
