I wouldn’t have to play hard to get if so many men didn’t play hard to want

Exactly! It’s not playing games, it’s having self respect and boundaries
[–]sleepykittnFDS Newbie164 points165 points166 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
If treating her with respect means hard to get because shes 'hard' to please its because theyre NV and she knows her worth. Respect is a human right.

Exactly, we have our guards up because we cant even expect basic human deceny at this point. We dont owe them immediate trust, they have to turn it around because sometimes having faith in humanity gets you killed just because youre a woman. Thats on them. Giving the benefit of the doubt only benefits them but risks our safety for their feefees. Hard to get? How about you surprise me with the bare minimum, but thats still not enough to get. And youre right, its not unreasonable to be wary of stranger danger, its just common sense. If the vibe makes men uncomfortable because she wont budge then they didnt approach appropriately.

So lazy and entitled that women asking for anything nice is INFURIATING. Today on Instagram there was some "creative proposal goals" bullshit circulating and I didn't care to watch, but a woman commented "I don't want to be proposed to in my apartment". Someone flew off the rails in an angry rant of a comment about how men don't need to spend their entire life savings on a proposal to impress a woman!!!!!1!1!1! Bradley, dear sir, it costs $0 to go walk somewhere pretty.
What is that enormous logical leap they are doing? My ex did the same thing when I asked him to plan a date, as if I had specifically said "I need you to spend a month's earnings on a lavish dining experience". Where the fuck does that come from?
[–]pickmieshaexorcistFDS Disciple21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
My narc dad used to do this. He’d take your request, or argument, and turn it into the most absurd conclusion. “Oh, so you want me to <insert insane, absurd thing no one said>?!?! Is that what you want?!”
Um, no. No one said that? It’s absolutely a deliberate deflection tool they do to divert you away from the real topic. Suddenly you’re arguing the absurd thing now.
[–]_RustInPiece_FDS Apprentice9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Narcs want you to get defensive about your standards since they feel threatened by even the smallest spark of spotlight that shines on you.
After having those situations several times I decided to answer with a simple "Yes". And guess what, it worked! They were so confused that I - instead of defending myself - casually yet wholeheartedly agreed with them. It doesn't matter if I agreed about something I never wanted to imply. It doesn't matter if confirming their question meant I was lying. Their question was never about facts in the first place. Narcs love to derail conversations by leading them to absurdity. I agree with them to ridicule their attempt. Works every f*cking time.

LOL using this from now on!
"Yes, women want to be proposed to with printed out financials that show you have spent your life savings preparing for the proposal and are now broke."

See how ridiculous they sound?
Try not to have a passive-aggressive tone since anger confirms them in their negging. Instead say it with a voice where they are unsure if you are joking. Neutral face or cheerful smile - find your style and troll the bullies.

The difference in their postures speaks volumes. Don't even need captions to know she's out of his league.
Edit: corrected the idiom!!

She's out of his league...always batting up, not down.
/at least that's how I remember what that saying means
technically the phrase can work either way if looking at the words, but the nuance of meaning usually comes in context.
usually, in conversational use, the out of league person is the "higher value" person. it's a low life type crying in his beer "she's out my league" not the A+ babe thinking the low life is "out of my league". He would be, but that's not how the phrase is used.

Girl u right
[–]Ntop__FDS Newbie2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hehe whoops! I always thought it was that the league was the highest and the person out of it was on the lower rank (not that I have any idea how baseball works).
Corrected and well noted for future use!

Why are the men always unattractive and old and the women are beautiful and young. Makes me gag

Then, the old balding scrote marries the beautiful women. It encourages women to lower their standards.

Their is movie called The Heiress in 1949 that's really good. Some people see ending at tragic because she was not innocently sweet anymore. I see it as her having triumph into a strong woman who had fabulous ending. She seemed happy just not naïve. What she does is just great.

The Heiress should be required FDS viewing. The main character's transition from Pickme to HVW is amazing to watch. The entire final scene had me fist-punching the air.
[–]plummyjellyfishFDS Newbie1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh man this is one of my favourite movies, but I have to say my interpretation of the ending is different. I think that rather than becoming a happy, single HVW, she's mostly just internalised a lot of her father's emotional abuse.
A key scene shows her maid Mariah complimenting her dress/appearance at the end of the film, and then Catherine getting snippy and assuming that the compliment was false so that Mariah could butter Catherine up for a 'small favour'. This shows that now she, like her father, believes that no one could possibly have a good opinion of her and all shows of apparent kindness are just manipulation.
This, to me, shows that Catherine is really just a bitter person in the end .She has her petty victory but all she seems to have learned is how to be cruel - she herself says this. This isn't really HVW behaviour.
