Also, can we talk about the "teen" shows that always depict teenagers in heavy drug use and hooking up with everyone? Look at the show Euphoria. So much nudity and yet the characters are supposed to be teenagers. So sad to see the normalization of hook up culture, its almost like those directors want to brainwash every teen girl.

I just can't watch popular TV anymore. If it's not this shit it's the libfem normalisation of kink and prostitution and endless, endless porn "jokes". Everything's ruined post my awakening.

And its not just TV and movies, I see this in the art world too. Take a look at Artstation and the front page will be full of softcore porn paintings of girls with a vague fantasy skin tone, or posing proactively dripping in blood. When I was studying concept and character art I heard constantly that realism was hugely important, you must consider details and story-telling throughout. But somehow when a woman is involved that goes out the window - because it's totally reasonable and realistic for an elven queen to go into war in a chainmail bikini, with a full face of makeup, stiletto heels, 4ft long hair, and a hairless body??????? So dumb, so predictable, so boring. Men are pathetic.

So many 🤡🤡 ignore that men r*** each other- especially colonizers and slave owners. Also, ancient Spartans were so homoerotic but they leave that out in movies like “300”. 💅

There's a very easy way to change this. Women can just choose to stop watching deliberately drawn-out and tasteless scenes involving violence against women and this shit will just never appear again anywhere. No one is going to produce a movie half the population will resent.

I know almost all women hate these scenes, what we need is women to be in tune with their instincts. We're not a tiny minority, we're (at least) half the population and with great power we just don't use.

Violence against women was depicted so often in Vikings and the scenes were always so random and added nothing to the plot. You could tell that the writers and directors just get off on seeing women get brutalised.

It is difficult to watch a lot of modern TV and films after being pink pilled FDS style. Male writers/producers/directors enable so much violence and abuse against women's bodies.

This website is a database where you can search TV programs/films before you watch them to see if their is any triggering content. So you can decide if you want to watch it - before getting half way through and having to deal with a random r@pe scene or a woman being sl@pped around.

Once I started paying attention to what men liked watching, it's mostly women screaming in fear. More of the movie will play, more violence towards the female character. Then I started noticing it in movies I've liked in the past, so much violence towards women, and I was ok with that? Now I specifically look for female directors. Everytime I give a male directed movie a chance, hoping it'll be void of violence or suggestive angles, nope.

I didn't know why i wasn't able to appreciate shows like GoT like so many other people and from FDS and posts like this I finally could comprehend and pinpoint exactly why it felt so icky to me.

Now with anime/ cartoons I stick to those targeted at kids and it gives me peace of mind.

With shows my favourite genre being mystery/ psych/ detective can sometimes get problematic, I am okay with them just mentioning it without depicting visually but we know that is not the case with many shows after all they need abuse porn for their male audience 💀💀💀💀

But i'm so happy that i'm now super selective with what i consume with that also comes a lot of time saved

I read a study once where men who see rape on screen are more forgiving of it in general. Rape needs to not be allowed on screen.

Thing is these things weren’t ugly and women still probably bathed more than men I’d wager. Lol But this has become a huge pet peeve of mine and the reason I can’t watch GoT. I actually have to ask if popular shows have sexual violence now because I refuse to watch and give trash like that my time.

I read somewhere that the reason TV was full of racist shows in the 1970s and even 1980s (things like Cowboy/Indians westerns), was because those movies and TV shows were produced in the 50's and 60's by old men. Old men who had grown up listening to their grandad's racist stories and idolizing those old, racist days.

I think it's the same now. The people funding and directing these films and shows are the most successful patriarchs in the patriarchy and they're keen on propagating their beloved worldview.

This has been an interesting topic between my husband and me.

He comes from a country where porn is illegal and these types of things aren't depicted in media.

I come from a country where this has been normalized.

So when we watch something together, he will automatically skip these scenes. I was so confused at first, but then I learned he hated these scenes and how they are in every movie now. Then I realized just how prevalent they were. Having been so accustomed to it, I stopped noticing it.

I kept wondering while watching Outlander how on earth Claire, a brunette, has no visible leg or pit hair even though the writers try to keep it realistic by having a different scrote sexually assault her and/or the other female characters (oh and also all of the men) in every single episode

I've given up watching movies and TV years ago, because I'd always run into the description of the movie/show sounding good and then being faced with traumatic scenes and violence. The last movie I saw in theaters advertised itself as being about fashion but it was just a long winded scene of the toxic relationship between a man and a woman. At the time I told the guy I saw it with that I'd like to watch a movie where the characters have a nice day and he thought that was irrational lol. I'm so glad that people are waking up to this because people would judge me so harshly for not being okay with watching traumatic scenes🤷‍♀️

I would say at least they should drop the act, that it's about realism, but you know what? Even if they were admiting that they get off by violence against women, I'm still getting pissed off. Because nobody should get sympathy points for simply being honest when via their honesty it is revealed that they are shitty people.

As problematic as the show is in terms of historical (and mythological) accuracy, Sky Network’s Britannia doesn’t have sexual violence against women just for the sake of it. There’s sex, and there’s violence, but it’s pretty evenly distributed. There are even a few characters with bad teeth!

I was so mad when they wrote the rape of Sansa Stark. Like why??? She was hours away from escaping anyway, so why not make her escape before the rape? I never understood. It didn't fit her character arc at all. It's not written in the books either. There was absolutely no reason for her to get raped.

The context is she is detained and forced to marry an enemy. She is planning her escape, but at the same time she knows that her husband/captor will soon visit her chamber/cell to brutally rape her. So what happens? Her husband/captor comes to rape her, and later that day she escapes.

It would have been so easy to make her escape before the rape. They are writing whatever story they want! And it's not like she had to try it once to see if she really needed to escape, she knew all along her husband/captor was a dangerous and extremely cruel man who would brutally rape her.
