I have noticed anger, or jokes from men making fun of (primarily) women, and younger women for posting support/resources for the situation in Afghanistan on social media, primarily Instagram stories. I’ve noticed it on Reddit, Facebook, Twitter etc. and I’m curious as to what everyone’s opinion is on why it bothers men so much.

This is one of those things where awareness and donating money to the right avenues are really the only things we can do as individuals, other than stay informed, share petitions etc. The memes seem to suggest we think that sharing resources will combat the Taliban? When it is very obviously to offer support to those who need it and keep awareness going.

I’m curious as well because I dated a guy once that seemed to take offence, or judge me because I was very outspoken on social media about various causes (BLM, women rights etc.) and most days I will share resources, info or gofundmes. Most of my friends are the same. He seemed to think it was all for performance and appearing “woke”, even though I took action & was consistent (ie. attended protests, donate money regularly, and continue awareness outside of trends).

Very curious as to what y’all’s opinions are because I cannot see how raising awareness in what small way we can, could possibly be a bad thing or something to make fun of women for. I might be overthinking lighthearted jokes but it just seems like shitting on women for caring.
