I’m really glad to see this reach the front page of Reddit! Far too often, men’s issues are reduced to feminist platitudes of “men just need to open up more”, but the author of this paper looks more into deeper societal reasons for it.

Here’s a great comment from a user in that thread which explains why we may one day have to stand up for subs like ours:

“Most if not all of the posts about r/MensRights on AHS are crafted by one user in particular (archived post (and) (and) (and) as an example), and the frequency of their posts have increased substantially lately. I'm not sure why, but it seems as though this individual's only goal is to have this sub banned. It seems to be the only thing they care about, and they scour this sub each and every day for anything they consider to be "misogynistic" or "transphobic."

They've even started their own dedicated hate sub for this kinda thing. r\againstmensrights and r\Male_Fragility.”

We need to be ready to protest against Reddit or switch to other platforms if they quarantine/ban subreddits such as MensRights or even LeftWingMaleAdvocates. This is also why we strictly moderate against generalizations and misogyny — we DO believe in equality, and we aren’t like MGTOW.

During their first couple ban marathons there were lists circulated around Reddit, mainly in feminist spaces.

Because the most popular and active feminist sub at the time (gender critical) was banned. Along with other favorites like PinkPillFeminism. And rumor was that FDS would be next.

The first couple lists only had a couple men's subs on it. But quite a few feminist and femcel subs were on it. Which caused a lot of outrage from feminists around Reddit.

I don't know what the "score" is but the dirty secret for feminists for a long time is that their subs have been on the chopping block a lot more than "manosphere" subs have been. Men's subs just get more publicity when they get axed because it fits into institutional social narratives about who the bad guys are.

It’s interesting how feminist/womansphere subs are only banned or targeted when they’re accused of transphobia. They have carte blanche to say whatever they want about cis men. If the administration of this site operated with a modicum of fairness, even the likes of r/feminism would’ve been banned as well, considering how often they admit and try to justify their hatred of men. Just a recent example of post that would certainly make us an AHS target if the genders were reversed. It must be very comfortable to enjoy this level of protection and corporate/institutional power. I only wish men were granted such treatment as well.

I've said this before: GenderCritical would still be up and running today if it wasn't for its transphobia. Hating men is allowed, hell even encouraged in many feminist spaces.

The thing about GenderCritical, imo, is that their hatred of men is fundamental to their hatred of trans women. They see trans women as men in skirts, and they see men as dangerous.

Well false accusations of misogyny can get you in trouble whereas the very real existence of misandry won't get you in trouble.

Meaning we care more about misogyny than we do misandry.

They're usually banned for things like racism and transphobia.

And Reddit's institutional policy is that misogyny is bad and misandry is ok.

u/ForgetAboutTheLonely even has some documented examples of this in practice.

Men are afraid to ask for equality. Meanwhile women are encouraged to say things like kill all men and it's considered empowering and progressive. So long as "men" doesn't include trans men or gay men.

r/mgtow got banned, and was watched by AHS because they were a bunch of mysoginists. I got banned because I said that maybe considering all women are sluts is a bit too extremistic.

If you guys want to be associated with those people, I highly doubt the sub is still left wing in anyway.

It is important to discuss the place of men in today's society and the issues that goes along with it, but being associated with a mysoginistic sub is counterproductive.

This is actually a wake up call to never ever let mysoginistic views get in our way, if we don't want to see all of our efforts gone.
