A recent article on The Hill, whom I usually like but I can't help but feel both disappointed and insulted by this. Enough with this divisive identity politics BS and saying about how more women are needed in politics. I've got nothing against women in positions of power and positions of leadership so long as they're qualified and the best people for the job, but wanting someone simply for their gender and not skills is asinine. On top of that implying that female leaders are more capable and competant of handling the current pandemic and male leaders are incompetant at it is incredibly sexist. Imagine the uproar and controversy there'd be if this article stated the opposite, of male-led countries faring better against COVID-19. How dumb does one have to be to think gender is relevant to leadership capabilities or handling a pandemic? This BS isn't my idea of gender equality at all and this is bordering on supremacy, implying that women are better at leadership and handling and a major crisis just because they're women. In this day and age of both Trump and COVID-19 we're so badly divided and this rhetoric only rubs the salt in the wounds.
