I don't think the problem is that most victims are men - the problem is that men and women are seen as two sides of a war, and that male on male violence is effectively "friendly fire" and something to be dealt with between men. Which basically says men bring it upon themselves, victim-blaming.

Then there's the weird "re-casting" which portrays violence against women as inherently misogynistic, and that the only reason one may wish to do harm to a woman is because she is a woman, and you harbour negative feelings against womankind. Meanwhile, if your victim is a man, there could be a whole host of motivations. (if a man were killed by his partner, maybe it was retribution for abuse, and so on) This is obviously horribly reductive and doesn't do male victims justice.

I don't hate this Pope, but he tries so hard to show how much he is a progressist and into social issues that it is annoying. (His TED Talk is a pointless boredom.)

Pope Francis is an 85 year old (as of this writing) product of a culture, system and way of thinking in which he's achieved ultra-rare levels of success. All that positive reinforcement is going to add up especially if it has decades to work on the brain, so I'd say it's to his credit that he's not a completely generic tradcon.

Can you help me find the source in the linked Wikipedia article that says men are the majority of victims please? I only find one reference that says:

1.9 million people aged 16–59 told the Crime Survey for England and Wales
(year ending March 2017), that they were victims of domestic violence
and 79% did not report their partner or ex-partner. Of the 1.9 million,
approximately 1.2 million were female and 713,000 were male

Which does not align with your statement. Thank you.

I think it's very important to acknowledge domestic violence against men and that society doesn't give it enough attention.

However, it appears to me that women tend to be the victim of domestic violence more often. They are most certainly murdered by their partners more often than the other way around.

And, even if there are reports that more men in Canada and even other countries are domestically abused than women, on a global level women almost certainly get abused more than men, especially when you include poor and more religious regions in South America, Africa and Asia.

All in all, I don't think this is a men versus women issue. It's a society issue. Both men and women contribute to the terrible social dynamics that foster this behavior. For example, men being raised in ways that don't foster being in touch with one's emotions, to "look tough" or "be a man" etc. We can work to create a society where that is no longer the issue together.
