Men’s rights activists have been talking about men being forced to pay child support to their rapists for years. Now the same happens to a woman and it hits the frontpage, with several comments blaming misogyny and and criticizing the supremacy of the “best interest of the child” and how it’s used to justify authoritative measures. I don’t mind people being outraged over something that is indeed outrageous, but it’s extremely frustrating to see how the victims’ gender comes into play in determining the degree of this outrage. And seeing people attributing this case to misogyny is baffling when you stop to think that the vast majority of those paying child support to their rapists are men. Truly one of those moments that make you want to quit social medias.
