The Met recently started doing random street drug swabbings. I see this as a violation of civil liberties. The rationale was "women's safety", because they can get away with anything if they say that. Ironically, it resulted in one arrest, which was of a woman.

The footage, posted by the Met's official Twitter account, went viral and received an angry backlash from many Londoners.

The Met Police has now released a statement defending their actions, saying the drug tests were aimed at protecting women's safety in the capital.

They say it was filmed as part of a ‘week of action’ supporting women’s safety in early December

🛑Many Londoners questioned the legality of 'random swabbing'

🗣️One Twitter user said: “This is insane. So if you lean against a bar or use a toilet in a club and get traces of a drug on your hand what then? Is this now a criminal offence? Can you confirm this”
