I saw this checking out my Twitter feed on the trending tweets over the annoucement of Mulan's Disney+ release. Just... ugh. More feminist entitlement and privilege. Female-led Action and blockbusters movies are nothing new and arguably have been fashionable since the 80s, and yet this kind of talk makes it seem like it's only now female-led films are getting recognition. It's ridiculous to me. Is the genitalia of a film's lead more important than the film actually being any good? I've got nothing against a female-led film and quite a few of my favorite films have women as leads, but statements like this seem to confuse a film's quality with the gender of it's leads. Sorry, but give me a good male-led film over a lousy female-led one anyday of the week. I've got nothing against female-centric films as long as they're good and aren't pushing an agenda, but it seems these days we can't have a female-centric film without it pushing a feminist, misandrist agenda. Which now is so much more often than not the case.
