No doubt, it's not your simple 'women are oppressed by patriarchy' but neither 'men get the short end of the stick in our gynocentric society'. The title is very unlucky and not exactly inviting to male advocates. But when you look at the research that is done, it may really be an eye-opener about not just that things are wrong (also to the disadvantage of men), but also why they are that way. No doubt it's a book that requires patience and a wish to dive deeply into complicated stuff, rather than find arguments for things you already knew and thought. But it is not a book reducing clear biological facts to 'social constructs'. And it is very clear about the sometimes negative role of women: 'Men high on Dark Triad traits are viewed as more attractive by women, are more likely to have consensual sexual partners.' The review already gave me some new insights.
