I wonder if that's actually true. To be fair, rates of black men leaving the home increased dramatically in the 1980s as many of the jobs of the north that they moved to in the 60s and 70s began to move overseas and unemployment among black men increased. I'm not black, I don't have a stake in this sort of thing, but I question that it was the women themselves or rather their bad attitudes that made men leave. It could also have been many of the other social problems that arose when men who were formerly in industrial well paying jobs found themselves perpetually unemployed, or working substantially lower paying service jobs just to scrape by. A similar situation is occurring today in many parts of the rulral Midwest where the demographics lean more white. In those areas there is an accompanying rise in alcoholism and narcotic pain medication use, and overdose. There are however substantial cultural differences between blacks and whites, as most people are already aware given the nature of this thread.

I'm not saying there aren't truths to this, I'm merely saying that there is likely more to it than simply black women are somehow the worst of the worst.
