Tbh I made money by tracking the black drug markets, won't get into details but when they open/close the price was affected. But that was when it wasn't used for much else...

Listen Up.

I have made a considerable amount of money trading crypto currency and study economics and finance. The concept that everything that exists in the cryptosphere is exclusively currency is not accurate. Bitcoin is better described as a store of value, like a precious metal. The whole cryptosphere is typically tethered to the price of bitcoin but this is not entirely accurate because even when capital valuations for bitcoin is down there are many instances I have witnessed of other cryptos going for a bull run.

There are cryptocurrencies that are designed for logistical chain management, smart contracts and other things. I could probably write a dissertation on this but I am not going to.

I am at some point, going to be published in a reputable economics journal about cryptocurrency and its applications to include currency and otherwise. The offer has been extended, I just need to take the interview and write the papers.

At any rate, I will advise you on subjects to read pertaining to cryptocurrency.

I highly recommend you educate yourself in the following:

Basic Economics - Principles of supply, demand, scarcity, elasticity.

Statistical Analysis - Learn to interpret a chart, so volume, liquidity, buy and sell walls, candle indicators, etc.

Technical Analysis - Interpret SI, MACD, MA, SRI etc are good indicators. Knowing when HVT or high volume trading kicks in can help.

SEC, FTC, Commodity Futures Trading Commission

Tax Law (Especially capital gains tax)

Cryptography (A good starting place would be to read up on SHA-256)

Crypto mining (Specifically, the advantages of mining with a GPU or an ASIC, mining difficulty, Hash Rates, this ties into cryptography)

Trading Platforms - Binance, Coinbase (GDAX) Etc.

Cyber Security - VPNs, cryptographic keys for passwords, two factor Identification (2FA), proxies and firewalls, secured connections, API Keys.

Trading Terms- Bull Run, Bearishness, Whale, Smart Money, Reversal, Corrections, Floors. etc.

Electronic Banking. (Self explanatory)

Also this cannot be understated, crypto is a heavily manipulated market but despite the market manipulations (Pump and Dumps, etc) there is a lot of capital involved, hedge funds and other real players. It is a very volatile market which means a lot of money can be made very quickly or lost very quickly.

Remember, it isn't gambling if you know what you're doing.

EDIT:

Pay attention to yourself or only trusted traders and learn to interpret patterns, there are a handful of patterns in statistical indicators that tell you what a security is going to traditionally do on the short term and the longterm. This is part of why learning to read candle indicators, short term charts and long term charts is so important. Also, I would read a lot on Investopedia and networked with other traders through facebook, twitter, discord and telegram and occasionally 4chan. Figure out the ebb and flow of the market before you commit any serious money into it. Right now may be a good time to get in, there has been a large bull run the last two months in crypto markets and indicators show that it may continue however the market is attempting to pierce through a rather large sell wall and the corresponding ceiling so if you do commit any money be careful. Everyone's risk tolerance varies and I would recommend you have less tolerance for risk before you know what you are doing.
