Refusing to take your name after marriage is the ultimate insult. She saying (to your face no less) that she wants access to every facet of your life, to be your next of kin, be a member of your family, but she wouldn't dare actually want to give up anything and take your name. She wants her cake and to eat it too.

Absolutely yes. For a woman to refuse to take her husband's last name is the ultimate sign of disrespect. For a man to "compromise" by hyphenating his last name is a sign of emasculation. I have yet to meet a married woman whom kept her maiden name that wasn't a complete shrew/bitch/fuck-up. I have yet to meet a man whom married this type of women or whom hypenated his last name that impressed me as being a real man.

My extended family is a great example of the above. No only in my parents' marriage but in their parents' marriages and all the other marriages across uncles, aunts and cousins, the women took their husbands' names. Given that our extended family is extremely conservative, this is expected. Is anyone surprised that all of the men involved are masculine and all of the women involved are feminine? Not only that, is anyone surprised that there are zero separations/divorces? Not only that, but all the children produced by the family are well-behaved and on the way to becoming high-achievers in life. To put it simply, masculine men - should they choose to marry - choose feminine women and leave the feminist rabble for losers to fuck and chuck.

People should list both names for the sake of internet searches. I don't know the real names of half of my relatives, but I can still find them based on their maiden names.

I feel I would be ok with a hypothetical woman hyphenating her last names. But I will under no terms drop my family name or change it in any way, fuck those who would ask!
