[DISCUSSION] Feminists don't know how to write compelling female characters. Their idea of the "strong independent woman" is always cast in light of her relationship to men who are made dumb/incompetent to prop her up.

Over and over I keep seeing this happen in movies and video games that quite clearly have a feminist bent when it comes to their female character(s). The woman is presented as very competent/overachieving and to make this stand out they make the men surrounding her the opposite.

A few examples:

  • Peppermint (movie), Agent Lisa Inman basically knows and figures out everything while the other two detectives (one a veteran) are shown as slow or incompetent to figure things out.

  • Uncharted Lost Legacy: They turned Sam into a complete cuck when interacting with Chloe and Nadine and practically every interaction is meant to highlight how competent the women are and how slow/awkward Sam is.

  • Halloween (2018) never mind Laurie's character turning into practically a military grade soldier, her daughter's husband is shown as incompetent (as are the young girl's friends which is another example in the movie showing men as totally embarrassing to prop up the female characters) and Laurie even gives him the smallest gun when handing out weapons.

There are plenty more examples but it is certainly a trend when it comes to feminists writing female characters. It is like they have to turn the men surrounding said character into dumb incompetent fools in order to prop her up and as such the female character doesn't stands on her own merits but feels like a forced stereotype and just doesn't ends up being compelling.
