It’s definitely feeling you get at Vail.

Just got a shit kick out of your commentary on the menu selections... because yes a faux-European style "Alpine" ski resort, well of course one would expect to be offered raw fish (sushi, sashimi... whatever) and grilled octopus! (I mean you couldn't feature say... oh "Swiss" or "Austrian" food, nah that'd be too banal; and likewise nothing "hearty" like a soup or chili: that'd be too "low brow.")

All that was missing (and I'm certain there probably were other places that offered it) was Pad Thai, and Banh Mi... or maybe I'm just not keeping up to date and those are possibly no longer so "trendy" as they once were.

I keep waiting for something like "fried cockroach stew"* to become popular/trendy/pricey (but not of course clearly named anything like that; no it'll have to have some foreign label, probably "asian"... maybe some kitschy Indonesian or Malay tribal language moniker; or possibly some faux Peruvian/Quechua thing).

* And yes that's an actual thing -- if people wanted to eat REAL/AUTHENTIC "Pad Thai"... then cockroaches (and assorted other insects) would be part of the menu.
