I asked myself a very simple question: why would a pro-Russian leader get toppled in a coup 1 year before an election in which a pro-EU leader was expected to win?

Answer: the people behind the coup didn't want a peaceful transition of power from pro-Russian to a pro-EU leader, but instead wanted to introduce chaos to the Ukraine and provoke Russia.

Also, notice the role of the media in this, and what information they have excluded, typically. (e.g. Crimea was part of Russia since before the US existed as a nation and was only transferred as an administrative measure to the Ukraine in 1956)
