Because google isn't a branch of the federal government hello?
[–]ShiftyShapeshifter36 points37 points38 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Since USPS is part of the government, they will require a warrant to go through your mail.
UPS, FedEx, DHL, and other private carriers can do whatever the fuck they feel like with your mail.
(Which, by the way, is why nearly all illegal materials being shipped domestically are done through USPS.)
[–]lennytheburger4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
yea the usps has a huge problem with that look it up
[–]sharkinator119810 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
"problem"
[–]Sgt__Schultz0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Where does it say that the USPS requires a warrant to go through your mail? If you are shipping a package and the post office is concerned with the contents of your package... You're shipping something illegal like something dangerous or drugs... They have every right to open your parcel to verify the contents. No warrant needed.
[–]ShiftyShapeshifter1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Their own website, for starters.
They do not have every right to open your packages. The 4th Amendment is a thing.
There are a few exceptions, but they are incredibly rare.
- If a life is at risk (e.g., there is clearly a baby crying inside a package)
- If there is an immediate perceived risk of injury or life (e.g., a package that is ticking like a bomb)
- During an active terrorist investigation
- Anything that involves animals / U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
- If a parcel has obvious signs of illegal activity (e.g., a package that absolutely reeks of stinky bud)
The government can't just start going through your stuff without permission. They can't search your car, just because you're on their roads. They can't search your house, just because you're on their land. They can't search your mail, just because it's being couriered by them.
[–]Sgt__Schultz0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree with you. The only time packages are opened without a warrant is due to those exact circumstances you mentioned. 😊

You do not have the right to free email provided by a private company.
Alphabet does not get free infrastructure, they build a lot of it themselves between data-centers. Last mile, sure, like every other web site, they're relying on telecom companies for that. But so does every other web site on the web. If you want to complain about that... take on Netflix. They're like 45% of network traffic for the country some nights.
[+][deleted] 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
[–]Maximum_Afternoon0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No, they didn't , and that's not what I claimed.
[+]lennytheburger-6 points-5 points-4 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
First of all, if you willingly give them your package and accept their terms of usage, you cannot complain since you yourself have put yourself in that situation. Alphabet is in no position to push their own agenda as any push would be highly disputed within its many levels and branches.
Stop whining about big companies and trying to push conspiracy theories all over the place.

Also Google created the platform of services that you use for digital mail. The post office are only couriers of said mail.
[–]Deadpool99590 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It’s really not
[–]cmdralpha26 points27 points28 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
You use their services for free remember nothing is really free
[–]DeathOfThinking9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If it's "free", you are the product
[–]Bartand0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What if a friend from Russia lent me his copy of windows and photoshop?
Any link to reparameter? I usually disable everything from windows, adobe etc especially from start processes.
I have switched to protonmail, brave etc but if you know any other sneaky things Id be greatly appreciative and aroused.

Even if your phone is off as long as you have Gmail it pings your location every 30-60s to have 24/7 surveillance on you via location. Then Gmail also scans your email for keywords to tailor ads for you and create a profile of you that you can view on their website.

Yeah I didn't mean battery dead but when you black out the screen.
Thanks for clarifying. I actually don't actually turn my phone off now that I think about it. The only time is when I have to restart for some update so it's off for like 2 seconds.
[–]iseehot2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What does this have to do with mgtow
[–]RealBiggly2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Big government control is very much on the radar of MGTOW
[–]noothersinvolved4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
So anything about state control is fair game for this subreddit now?
[–]RealBiggly-5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well it would make a pleasant change from some of the other regular shit?
[–]noothersinvolved3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Go to a different subreddit that caters for that content then. This post has nothing to do with Men Going Their Own Way.

>big government control >Google
[–]ZergSuperHighway-5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

[–]22skeet7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
men going their own way...
[–]whyserenity-5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Which means they are allowed to. Don’t think that is going to go unnoticed.
[–]22skeet2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
??? Did I ever say they weren't allowed to??? What isn't going to go unnoticed? I don't understand what you are trying to get at here.
[–]MethaCat11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
You might need to meditate upon your question brother.
As in:
How is this related to MGTOW?
Is Google a part of the federal government?
Which side of the political spectrum wants less regulation and more freedom on private enterprises?
How much do you pay for the service in both cases?
I don't agree with this kind of email providers so I just use alternatives.
[–]pdiggs15007 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
MGTOW and trp have been flooded with the idea that anything left-leaning is pro-feminine / anti-men.
OP knows that Mr. Trump isn't a fan of Google, thus he believes that the right sees them as "the enemy". Which is why you get his leftist state bullshit and why he thinks it belongs in MGTOW.
[–]noelogoutlaw4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
In that they are openly looking to tamper the next election in favor of the Democrats; yes they are indeed. They already are involved in societal tampering through their "services": ie censorship, pushing propaganda that includes their ideologies.
[–]MethaCat0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I totally agree with your second point, no question about google tampering results.
I promise I'm not being dense to troll you but I really can't understand the logic on your first argument.
How does tampering election in favor of the Democrats makes you part of the federal government? Wouldn't that make every lobby that favors democrats also a part of the federal government?
I'm not American so I only see this from the sidelines, so I assure you I have no dog in this fight. I hope you can consider the possibility that you have been radicalized to go against each other by a third party.
I would go as far as to say any business that participates in politics through lobbying efforts and using the services and products they offer to control the political narrative, are part of the federal government.
Enterprises are no longer businesses when they have an interest in more than just making money. Ie lobbying government.
Government is no longer for the free market of its nation when they decide to control every aspect of business, play favoritism, and neglect the needs of all citizens and businesses for the needs of a few.
[–]SeekingAlphaOmega11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Because privacy rights were mor cherished when the post office was created.
[–]Maximum_Afternoon3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
No, because the user agreed to those terms when they accepted the free service.
[–]whyserenity1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
True, but that doesn’t mean much. Eula’s aren’t worth anything if the government says they are illegal.
[–]ZerglingKingPrime10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This is retarded. Leftist surveillance state? You mean giving private companies freedom to manage their business instead of regulating and monitoring? Doesn't sound so leftist to me.
[–]Trollileo1231 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yea its the opposite of leftist.
[–]ShylockSimmonz4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Because they are a private business and you were dumb enough to agree to the terms of service and use an email service with zero privacy when there are alternatives that offer privacy. If you aren't paying for a product the odds are that you are the product.
[–]noelogoutlaw1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
when there are alternatives that offer privacy.
Do tell
[–]ShylockSimmonz1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Tutanota and Proton Mail are two options. The email stored on their servers are encrypted and they don't keep the keys to decrypt it so even if they get handed a warrant for your stuff the best the pigs are getting is encrypted data and the provider couldn't read your stuff even if they wanted. Only downside is if you forget your password you're screwed but that's fine with me. How can you be sure they are being honest with this ? The code is open source and anybody can view it so you can be sure they're doing what they say.
[–]CeleritySteam3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Post office reading your mail is illegal
I got bad news for you. Hell, they can read it by accident every time they scan it.

internet is comparable to the birth of printing, and how did it piss off the powers that were...
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You gave google the right to do so. They put it in the terms of service and you said, “okay sure!”
Me, I use protonmail. I pay every month for encrypted emails. It’s way more secure than gmail. Is it 100% private? No, probably not, but it is way better than gmail.
Without looking into it, I wouldn't be so sure it's more secure than Google. They have a lot of resources behind the service. It's definitely more private.
[–]Uruke2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Because when you created your account you clicked "accept" on their terms and agreements.
[–]iseehot1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Left or Right they can fuck up privacy. Government must be as small as possible (libertarian). Today both sides are heavy.
[–]King-Juggernaut1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
For sure. Most conservatives I know are really libertarians they just arent ready to commit. It's a shitty game when we would rather back up the libertarian parties but then the Democrats are less divided. The underlying problem isnt left vs right. It's the people vs the government.
[–]milordi1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Because it's bullshit, no person reads your emails.
Also unencrypted email = sending a postcard
[–]King-Juggernaut2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's what I'm saying. I'm not exactly important enough at the moment to have my day to day monitored by a company seriously. Hell, I even gets ads I want once in awhile. Were just dollar signs. I don't give a fuck what they think about my personal life.
[–]samsng21 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Shaikan_0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Because tech is poorly regulated (mostly a good thing), and Google "donates" the govt money to keep quiet. Funny story: I was reading about a North Korean hacker on the FBI wanted list. At some point, Google was able to track him down because he sent out his resume through Gmail while in China .
> leftist lel
The answer to the question, btw, is that Google is a private entity and the Post Office is a governmental one. You don't have "rights" in the private sector, lol. If you want rights, that requires passing "socialist" laws.
[–]MythicalLegume0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The modern era of surveillance was started under the Patriot Act, signed into law by a Republican President.
Guys, we're supposed to be working as a support group to pursue our own paths in life separate and not tied to romantic attachment, why do people have to throw the boomer political shit in here? After all, ironically its social conservatives who are the loudest proponents of marriage and chivalry, they are not friends of independent minded people on their own paths.
[–]AyaOshba10 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Let them read what ever they want. In NZ their watchlist is useless because 25% to 50% of the population is on a watchlist. So you need to hire how many people to watch the people on tbe watch list.
But who do you hire to watch the people who are watching the people. But then you need to hire people to watch the watchers who are watching the watchers watching the people.
You then can see why it eventually collapses.
[–]THOTdestroyer_60002 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
And all those watchers have to watch shitposters on 4/8Chans. Before they realize, they start agreeing with that flawless logic. Then the watcher needs to be watched.
[–]QuadraticLove1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
lol, no one at Google reads your emails. They scan them for keywords to use for targeted ads and possibly data mining. Automation is the name of the game for tech companies. If it's manual, then it won't scale and it's shit, lol.
