Is it important for a MGTOW to be proficient with firearms?

I feel that learning is (for me) a goal to strive for. The more a man learns, the more prepared for the world you are. Whether that's survivalism, flying a plane, sailing, starting a fire, fishing, hunting, etc. is not relevant. It's about the pursuit of knowledge.

Firearms are extremely easy to learn, it's a simple point and click interface, and mix that with cleaning and gun safety, you're learning something new.

Personally I don't own firearms, but all learning is good.

I'm an avid hunter and I live in an open-carry state so I carry everywhere. You'd be surprised how polite people become.

It is your birthright and duty as an American MGTOW to be proficient with firearms. The good news is that you can probably get up to speed with about ~30/hrs. training...depending on what you're using.

Well, in the olden days, weapons, dancing, and some art were considered basic requirements for aristocratic men to learn. I see no reason not to learn shooting either. It's fun and might be useful. Just like cooking and basic survival skills.

This is all along the lines of self-reliance.

Absolutely! Familiar with firearms and knives. I have a feeling when the shit hits it’s going to be full on Darwinism and people that rely on tech with no real life skills are going to be the bodies we step over in the name of survival. I keep an everyday pack in my trunk with a few other camping items just in case.

I recently realized that a lot of younger people can’t read analog face clocks and paper maps. Yikes!!

It is definitely a more practical and useful skill than all the amount of time and effort I've put into hand to hand combat. If you have an interest in it, I'd say definitely go for it. Double whammy if you live in a place that's gun friendly. You'd get to learn something practical and be able to apply it if needed (hopefully never) and have it align with personal interests. Guns interest me greatly, it's just unfortunate that where I live, I wouldn't have a gun on me due to strict gun laws.

First thing I'd do if it ever comes to conflict is run my ass away. Not dealing with any hidden knives, guns, shanks, etc. My life is also way more important than my pride. All the training I do is purely for myself and an activity to keep me physically and mentally sharp.

Average police response time is somewhere between 5 and 12 minutes, that # is from the dispatcher sends out the request to cop cars. Yes, I think everyone should be proficient with a firearm. Because when you get firearm training you usually also learn about how to detect trouble before it starts and what to look for, from potential aggressors.

The important thing for a mgtow (in my opinion) is to have a fruitful hobby. If you can find a way to make having a gun a benefit beyond simply preparing for a violent encounter or doomsday I'd say stay away from it. I personally prefer putting time into mastering car repairs and home repairs. Those two things have saved me money and in some cases made me money.

I've been out shooting with the other farm kids since I was 6 years old. Ignore the stigma, go and experience it if it interests you. Guns are dangerous but are a handy tool if respected.
