You are not alone, I've felt the same way for a long time. There are morons and assholes everywhere now days. No one has respect for anyone or anything, it's all "me, me, me!" People are completely self absorbed, and have no idea how to interact in a civil society. And AGAIN, it comes down to, too many kids raised by single mothers. No fathers to teach them to respect people, to teach them manners, responsibility, work ethic, etc. Just a bunch of spoiled rotten, lazy, worthless, leaches, looking for handouts, & throwing tantrums or crying when they don't get their way or someone hurts their feelings.

I'm a young man, people see kindness as a weakness and try to exploit it. Everyone seems to aspire to be a fake sociopath with no emotional maturity.

Compassion doesn't get you anywhere. I've seen friends who used to be cool and were good people turn into assholes because it wasn't getting them anywhere. Needless to say I stopped talking to them, but I can't blame them all the same.

People were probably always assholes, I'm not gonna be naive about it, but people at least were cool to close friends. I'm not sure many people have actual friends anymore, just cliques and acquaintances.

Being nice and have good manners will get you nowhere these days. Trust me, I also have a very mushy core and long for some kind of harmony. Problem is, that this will never work out in our society. We are animals and the only thing, which kept us at least in some part in check were... rules. Rules of society, women "fought" hard for to destroy and to "liberate" themselves. Now we regressed to the "good-ol' days" and as the primitive beings we are... everyone started to show their true faces.

I had to learn the hard way, that manners and polite behavior will only be interpreted as weakness. Today, I frankly give a shit what everyone thinks of me (if it not a strictly business related manner). I answer every disrespectful move accordingly. And funny to say, 90% of the cases women acting disrespectful. So in hindsight it is funny to see the baffled faces, when I shove them aside or simply ignore them while doing what I want.

I hate saying that, but I remember the days of consideration, and didn't realize how good it was. People would wear their best clothes to fly, or go out, and the culture is in a abject admiration of decay.

here's a simple situation I had, with a really good roommate.

roommate is 20ish, guy, quiet, and cool, his sister pays his rent (b/c he's in school) and she has a great job. She has her own place, and pays for his room too, but we all share common areas.

I was doing laundry, and had 2-3 loads, He comes home, and asks if he can do a single load inbetween mine, since I have a lot and he has only a few things.

I say sure, (which I regret) and presume it would only set me back an hour of my time.

now, when I do laundry every 2 weeks, but I set my phone alarm to sound (within 5-10 minutes) when it's done and never leave it in there (same with dishes, I always do my own every single day before bed). I got a job to do, I get it done and leave it cleaner then I found it. btw, it's always dirty, I'm the only one who cleans the screens and wipes down the entire washer/dryer from dust.

so, I'm on a schedule (my day off ) and I let this guy do his laundry in between mine, but instead of waiting around he fucking takes off, and leaves his fucking laundry in the washer, like I'm supposed to dry and fold it for him.

he KNOWS I have 2 more loads, and tried to enlist me (and my goodwill) to do his laundry.

so..... I text him, and he says he's out for the day.

I pull his wet laundry out of the washer and put them in the utility sink b/c wtf else can I do. He eventually figured out I didn't dry his clothes, and then NEVER apologized for leaving me the burden.

something went terribly wrong with the times and courtesy.

another roommate (girl this time) leaves her laundry in the washer/dryer for days and gets mad when the doors lock (at 10-11pm) and she can't get them.

she starts her laundry at noon, and 12 fucking hours later, you can hear her slamming on the door b/c it's locked and closed (due to rules ya know) and she's constantly having a recurring (weekly) world ending problem that everyone has to know about and she needs so much help, yet is (almost literally) one of the most ignorant people I've ever met.

I don't want to say everyone, but it seems like we've lost our concentration (for more than 30 second intervals), our courtesy, decency, and the new thing is to admire tatted up criminals that act like asses.

it's completely backwards on how I think it should be.

People are burned out man. Everyone works so much and everywhere you read there is war, shootings, etc. Just gotta take it easy out there and don’t get too stressed to add to the madness. Or go live somewhere very rural.

This is just basic everyday bullshit that’s inevitably going to happen. Best to not dwell on it and keep living by your own standards. You get too bent out of shape over this shit and it might take a negative toll on your cardiovascular system.

My life outside work revolves mostly around trying new niche cafes and sitting there alone with my book, the people there are mostly nice, with some odd apples here and there that I try not to give a fuck about, with lifting 3x a week.

Life isn't bad, but I'd like to travel somewhere that's less concrete jungle, less humans, more greeneries and animals.

Go to work, 9-5 finish go home and chill. Drive my bike on the weekend, workout.

Only social interaction is probably "Credit" to cashiers in store and small talk at work. Pretty close to ghost.
