Dude, I'm so fucking sorry. That must be awful to deal with. I hope you can enjoy your remaining time together and that the end is merciful.
You take care.

It's especially awful because he found the one woman out of 1,000,000 that's actually a good person, and now that one amazing person is leaving us.
Always the good people die the soonest, the shitty ones last for ever.

About 20 years ago, I was on a road trip and there was a really tragic piece on NPR. Not sure what show it was (This American Life, probably). Anyway, this guy (husband and father) finds out he's got some degenerative brain disease (maybe it was a tumor), so he decides to keep an audio diary. After his passing, the wife allowed a select few entries highlighting the progression to be aired along with her account of the experience. It was so sweet and sad and humbling, hearing this man's decline even as he knew it was happening.
Not sure of my point in relaying this, except maybe the humility and acceptance voiced in your post reminded me of the piece. Maybe hearing it (if you can find it) might benefit, knowing you're not alone.

I don't know how open you might be to alternative treatments, but maybe try looking into John McDougall and his dietary approach. Watch a presentation of his on YouTube first (the one hour ones are well worth the time) and only thereafter, once you've understood the concept, read the June 2017 newsletter on his website. In case you decide to give it a shot, I'd be more than happy to read a PM about how things are going... Good luck!

Look also into Lutein; there was some study how to help aging and Lutein turned out the most benefiting supplement.

This might be against everything MGTOW stands for, but perhaps you did find a unicorn. I've hypothesized in MGTOW "theory" that unicorns do exist because of high variability in human psychology. I even made a post about it. But that it's so rare that it's not worth the effort to even search for it for 99% of men.
Maybe you found a unicorn, and if you believe that, you shouldn't be ashamed as it's actually a brave thing to do.
It sounds like she is a beautiful person and that you truly have a good relationship. And don't let any MGTOW or redpiller tell you anything different because only you are in a position to judge the relationship. In fact I am even a bit jealous.
Stay strong with family and close friends because things will probably get harder. Stay with her no matter what. Be her unicorn.
I’ll be God damned if some opportunistic buzzard is going to come harvest what has taken my wife a decade to create.
Yep, sounds like 99.9999% of the women out there. Men can be horrible, but women are just as bad except somehow they always get away with it.
Wish you and your SO the best dude.

You're a great man. The world is so upside down that it's reassuring to see people who are resolute in their values. I'm only 20 and my outlook on life is pretty drab right now but it gives me hope when I know that there are still good people who believe in love out there.
[–]Skiguy930 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I like the part you added at the end. Men and women are both terrible sometimes but women get away with so much more.
[–]Rimefang9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
MGTOW does not translate into hating all women. We do not hate women. We hate how their behavior has transformed into over the past few years with "empowerment" of females: giving them the power to destroy lives with almost NO chance of consequences under the guise of "Equality".
I cannot speak for everyone here, but I do not hate all women. I can say, however, that going through certain... events in life (Divorce rape, lying about pregnancy, etc) can certainly change a man to get extremely frustrated or just give up on even trying. Some do not have it as bad, while others get put through the worst of it, all without consequence or reprisal for them. Combined with fanning the flames of social media(which is already poisonous as is) spreading "promises" of "equality" despite the fact that the western world has it best out of the rest of the globe, neglecting to mention that in other places, women are forced into submission against their will under penalty of death. It's just... perplexing, because most guys like to think rationally.
Tl;dr - we get sick of their shit.

Most guys fall in love thinking divorce and alimony is never going to happen to them... until it does. It happened to my older brother. Being absolutely secure on your side guarantees nothing because marriage is a two way street that requires cooperation from BOTH sides. Now he lives at home, pays child support, and only sees his son on the weekends/holidays, while his wife talks about leaving TX and shit. I'm not good with talking to people in person, but I knew from the second I met her that she was a crock of shit, and that marrying her was a huge mistake. The saddest thing is his son loves him more than her, he's mixed(Mexican/Black) but considers himself Mexican, and he cries when he has to return to his mother. His birthday is only 6 days from his father's.
Honestly, I am glad you found your significant other in this waning world, and at least known her. Most of us never even get a chance to taste anything close. That's the problem with the 'entitled' women. They think they are all deserving because they are brainwashed into believing they are all Disney princesses thinking Prince Charming is going to come rescue them, until one day, they just wake up extremely disappointed and embittered. They think life robbed them of an opportunity without realizing it was in front of them from the get-go, and they let just let it walk away.
[–]Million-Suns22 points23 points24 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
She supported me while I was in college, she has always been radically transparent throughout our marriage with everything, including our finances
Wow just wow!! Where did you find one like that?
Sad to hear that she has been hit by Alzheimer. Be strong brother.

Im genuinely surprised by the amout of female hate that this topic has avoided so far. I guess incels just skip posts like this. Im happy that somebody had something like this, cherish it! You need time and that's understandable. But maybe having that unicorn image in your life would make it easier for you to realize what garbage is on the market right now and how to act right with that garbage.
[–]ProyektZ3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Mgtow aren’t woman hating xyz. When you read stuff that goes “wow he hates woman” it sounds that way. What I mean is if you just look at the words it absolutely does seem like woman hate. But you can’t ignore the context.
It’s like let’s say a woman got beat the fuck up and raped by a man. And he got away with it. Now imagine her post “fucking men price of shit I hope they die aaaahhhh” she’s not hating men. It’s her justifiable anger and it’s how she’s coping with the moment. In those times of extreme trauma we say shit like that.
I don’t maybe another example is like let’s say you have a kid who plays a musical instrument and their best friend played one too. Let’s say his best friend died in a car crash going to a school play or something and now the kid goes “he would’ve never died if he didn’t have to play music I hate music I wish all music didn’t exist!” I’m just getting at the idea not the actual examples, which I know you understand what I’m saying.

Have you tried magnesium l-threonate and/or piracetam (or other racetams)? These supplements/drugs have shown very positive results in slowing down cognitive decline and possibly even reversing some of the damage from brain injuries. Magnesium l-threonate is perfectly legal, the racetams are in a bit of a grey area but can be acquired online safely enough.
[+][deleted] 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
[–]Darth_Toenail2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
No problem, I really hope it helps. The Nootropics Depot website is a good source for various racetams. Magnesium L-threonate should be easily available on sites like Amazon. LifeExtension Neuro-Mag seems to be the most popular brand; whether that's because it's more effective or reliable I can't say.
[–]Scipio_Amer1canus2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Can verify Nootropics Depot. The racetams typically need to be cycled though as the body can build up tolerance within just a few days.
[–]poop_vomit0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I would also recommend phenylpiracetam, apparently it's a Russian prescription for alzeimers. Quite a few people here in the US take it for a boost in memory and cognitive function. It's legal too. I've used it plenty of times to vouch for it's effects.

I hate what a lot of women do, but by no means hate all women, etc. I just want a unicorn too. It's so awesome you found one! Im sorry for what you're about to go through. Make sure you have lots of video with her and photos so you can hear her voice and remember the good times. When it gets hard and things get bad, you got a brotherhood here to support you.

[–]ZeroBlink5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Mmmm I make a point not to believe that these women exist. However let's not make it about me this time. I just want to say , enjoy your time while you have it. I've seen how much trouble this illness can cause to the family. Mother's asking their own children "who are you" and shiet. It's just so sad , I have utmost respect for you for taking on such a dreadful challenge. I would probably break down and run away from the problem.
[–]ProyektZ2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
“I would run away from the problem” found the mgtow!!!
But in all honesty those are some of the truest words spoken. Everyone breaks down and runs away from problems. Some more than others. Thank you for that.

Did you try doing sauna 4x week? There was some study that it significantly reduces Alzheimer in Scandinavian countries. Alzh is also running on my paternal side, so I started doing sauna. Initially I couldn't take much, but after a few months I now have the following regime that completely clears my mind, so I believe there might be something about it:
do heat sessions for 10-15 minutes, preferably with some steam applied 3x during session; sitting higher might be better once you adjust to heat
after a heat session, take a short walk or sit in a colder room for 2-5 minutes
after this go in cold water. initially you would probably run away immediately, but after some time you can stay for much longer. I am now staying for around 2 minutes, fully immersed, and like every 10s dive my head briefly as well
first session is usually the least pleasant; after 4-5 session however I feel like a happy baby, mind is very clear, stress is gone and I feel great
it seems to help with skin as well; it makes skin nicer to touch and in case you have some fungal infection, those spots seem to get burnt in high heat steam sessions and peel off quickly
Maybe it's still not late for your loved one, perhaps worth trying, slowly ramping it up. Good luck!
[–]ProyektZ1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
So I’m Russian and the whole suana into cold water gig is popular...but then I hear doctors etc saying how it’s not good for you because of the heart risk...
Can you elaborate please? Do I need to actually research this?
Taking cold showers is also beneficial for you. Like straight up ice cold shower 10 mins or whatever. I couldn’t get to cold off the bat I had to do room temp water then toward the end make it a little bit colder. Then everyday gradually start colder.
[–]concernedguyah0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The study I mentioned is here:
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/12/161216114143.htm
I talked to a sauna/health guy in a large Austrian sauna in Alps and the advice was not to jump into cold water immediately after you finish hot session, but rather take a walk on cold air outside or just sit down for a while. Once you leave hot room, your heart frequency is very high; if you dip into cold water immediately, quite often people go unconscious because of blood vessels in their neck constricting suddenly. Some with poor health or undiagnosed heart problem might even encounter heart attack. So it's better to wait a few minutes. I usually wait until my heart rate gets close to normal, and then proceed with the cold water immersion. During first session this is quite unpleasant for the first 30 or so seconds, but then it's fine. This actually forces your body to close pores on the skin and to retain the warmth of previous hot session, so it much more pleasant than long cold showers without any sauna.
For me, if I repeat this sequence (10-15 minutes hot/very hot sauna, 5 minutes cool down, 2 minutes cold water immersion, 5 minutes quiet recovery) for 4-5 times, my mind becomes totally clear. Hard to explain, it's like you are nicely tired with great mind clarity. It doesn't happen if I don't do those cold immersion phases though, nor without sweaty hot sessions, they both need to happen.
For the first few months I had to take first just short cold showers after sauna, then I got more and more used to it. Once I started doing those cold immersions I simply tried to push every new stay by 5-10s longer, until I arrived to 2 minutes. Sometimes when I feel sick or have initial phase of cold, I cut it short to 1 minute, otherwise I feel worse, so you need to figure out your limits and what works for your genetics/health state.
I used to do 5 minute cold showers every day for a year; the unpleasant phase is usually the first 2 minutes; there was another British study saying that immunity improvements stopped after those 2 minutes anyway, so probably there is not much sense to stay longer, once your body adapts. I stopped doing it as I went sick for a month due to accumulated stress (a lot of gym stuff, cold showers and crazy work, so stress accumulated from multiple stressors and body told me to take a hike).
One more suggestions - three days fasting with only slightly salted water should restart one's immunity. I do it once every 3 months; first day I usually get a mild headache in the evening, second day I smell horribly, third day is just fine.

What I find truly sad is that people first need a major "con" to their life, one way or the other, before they are in a state of mind to care (/rely on) for another person.
Imagine if your wife's family didn't have those health issues running rampant in it. It ends with you two together now, but also ends in sadness all the same. It's basically letting you end the "fairytale" at an earlier stage than "unskewed" death, but at the same I feel like the unskewed death of a partner is the "finish line" of the greatest marathon that you'll ever run in life. I'm probably one of the few people who realize this, but this isn't even the worst ending; it pales in comparison to having your heart broken before reaching that finish line by the person who you hold so dear.
There's a different insight compared to the standard comments you've been getting. Remember it always seems to be a hard task for people to think beyond how things are -right now-, and most of them pretend that they could've made that finish line had it not been for "situation x"...but the harsh reality statistics tell us otherwise. If early death situations and such would be eradicated from the equation, almost no one would reach the actual finish line.
Any form of expectation and desire ultimately all end in suffering; especially when expectation and desire involves the new generation of people.

Autophagy from long term water fasting (say a 2 week fast every month for several months) gets rid of the amyloid proteins in the brain that cause alzheimers. Look into it. She's got nothing to lose and everything to gain. It won't reverse any damage done to the brain already, but it will stop further damage. She does need some fat storage for her body to live off when she goes into ketosis.
Also stop eating any and all sugar.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lh9IszdWzcg
This has good advice too for general life and wellbeing.

I'm really sorry to hear this. My own mother (who definetly is an AWALT) was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer too, and I can also already see the difficult road ahead. My heart goes out to both of you.

Alzhiemers is hard to watch happen to a close family member, my father is in the same boat. Diet (lots of leafy greens, veggies, less refined sugars, etc.) can help slow the progression as well as exercise and some medications. Please look into these things because Alzheimers untreated progresses fast. I’d say in a little under 3 years my dad went from charismatic, loud, and opinionated to a complete dead stare shell of his former self. Lastly, enjoy what little time you guys may have together!

You act as if it’s inevitable she will die soon. I would wait until doctors confirm and advise. Good luck.
Very sorry to read it. I am certain you should just enjoy the time with your wife and do not even consider the dating market. Girls over 30 with their face through the brick wall, snap chat filters and nasty poses with fake smiles is worth Nothing! And that's their online profile. Take that craziness in square and you will know how such a woman will be in real life. Take care of your family and just GYOW.

Sorry to hear what's happening with you and your wife.
There were several good women in my life, Mother, both Grandmothers, and an two aunts. That were 100% devoted to their husbands until death did they part.
The reality of most women wasn't revealed to me until I dealt with two petty baby mommas (That my own mother warned me shouldn't be trusted - but I didn't listen) of my own and also witnessed my widowed grandfather taken advantage by his wife after remarriage. She was happy to move into the home he and my grandmother had for 30 years and spend the money they'd saved together for 50 years of marriage - until he had a stroke and required her physical assistance - then she wanted to take a part of his finances with her.

Touching story indeed, It must be so frustrating losing a significant one due to an incurable condition. My condolences.
While I do consider myself a MGTOW, I do believe women like your wife still exist, but currently the chances of finding and keeping one are very low and therefore not worth the effort.

My friend, unicorn females do exist. My late wife informed me often, lets not take advantage of each other. She put in as much as I did financially and emotionally. We had an awesome life together. There is no way I would let some young/old cunt come in to destroy and take what we worked so hard for. If I want pussy that bad I will just pay for it. A lot of women thought I was a "sitting duck" after my wife passed. They were so consoling. All of them broke bitches, underwater mortgages and tanked credit scores. Like vultures they swooped on me with legs spread. The sisterhood offered advice on how to do it. The sad part is...this shit is normal to them! Stay safe brother. Guard your assets and you can eat prime rib till your last breath. Otherwise a cougar cunt and her boyfriend at the moment will.
All shop talk aside, I'm terribly sorry for you and yours. Alzheimers is a horrible thing to go through.
